    Ugh :(

Is the brown splotches normal? My other carboys were green and really couldn't see krausen in them

    Ugh :(

Yep we will carry on! I had another stopper (same size) don fit worth crap. Want to slip out all time... so well tape haha. I will get a universal stopper and see if it fits better. But looking good at this point

    Ugh :(

Yes it was sanitized. And since it went in easily... I think I can get it out. I agree learning tons being on the forum here!

    Ugh :(

Yep haha. I am more concerned about the beer. I have a lot of tenacity and I will get that stopper out one way or another :)

    Cold crash?

Well I could give it a shot and see how low the fridge would go. I will be bottling. So not sure if I should try layering in the carboy or bottles... ?

    Cold crash?

I am currently fermenting an extract kolsch. Thinking on using biofine or gelatin, and cold crashing. I have a freezerless magic chef fridge 4.4cf with inkbird. I'm assuming this unit would not get down to typical cold crash temps of say 34F? Maybe 45F or so? If so is this cold enough to even...

    First beer

Well been 7 days in the bottle for an extract hefe I brewed. Not bad flavor... but little head. I did pour carefully though.. but since it's a hefe maybe I should have poured more aggressively. I used fizz drops that came with kit... 1 per 12-16oz. This bottle is 16... and I think that maybe 1...

    Ugh :(

Lol yep. I have a 3 gal carboy and online it said a 6.5 stopper fits it... yea right... it's too small and you really have to be careful or bam down it goes. Oh well learn right? Haha

    Ugh :(

You mean me ... the newbie or an added twist to the beer lol :)

    Ugh :(

    Ugh :(

My rubber stopper was a little small for my 3 gal carboy and accidentally pushed it into the carboy when fixing a blow off tube. It's down in the beer. So... I'm sure I'm not the only one that has done this. Is batch ruined?

    Should I brew this?

    Should I brew this?

I currently am bottling conditioning two 1 gallon batches in my fermentation chamber at 70F because my ambient is 76F. One batch is into the second week, while the other has been a couple of days. I just received an Jim Palmer extract Kolsch kit from morebeer. On their web page it states...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I do have the small anvil scale to use. Ok so it looks like that calculator works on a 16oz calculation as well (.125g). Which sugar best … I suspect corn sugar? Also, what's the risk for infection? ie not putting sugar in solution and boiling? Thanks!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

So I bottled yesterday... and siphoning from the carboy was smoother than the first time. But bottling was a pain... only due to the Fizz Drops! I will never, ever, use these again! What a pain... they dont fit most of the 16oz bottles I have! Had to cram them into the openings increasing risk...
