    Diabetes and home brewing.

Type 1 Diabetic here. There's always concern when consuming things without knowing your carb count, and of course the additional concern when consuming alcohol. Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, I'm not your endo, and I'm not telling you to do or don't do something - I'm just sharing my experience...

German Pils Bo Berry Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

Thanks for the input guys. That's some interesting info regarding the podcast regarding the timing of the beer. I'm quite confident in limiting majority of o2 pickup in my transfers, this one was done closed all the way at 2-3psi. I do know it's not perfect and I don't have the capability of...

German Pils Bo Berry Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

So being located in San Francisco I had never had Timbo Pils, but I did end up seeing a local bottle shop had some just come in so I grabbed a four pack. Pic below, the full pour is Timbo Pils, and the taster is my own. Definitely my own lacks the aroma and extra 'west coast' flavor that Timbo...

German Pils Bo Berry Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

I brewed this one a while back, gave it 3 weeks in the fermenter, with a free rise diacetyl rest for I think 3 days which was ambient somewhere around 68 to 71 in my garage. Transferred to the keg and let it sit at 40 while carbing for about 2 weeks before I took my first taste. It was good...

    A simple digital Taplist solution

Hey, looks really simple. I like not needing to create the beer, then put it in a keg, then put it on tap. I'll be using it, thank you!

    New kettle

If you're thinking of mashing in a cooler and using the kettle as a boil kettle only, then yeah a 10 gallon kettle will be sufficient. Keep in mind though you may need to use your existing 5 gallon pot to hold your sparge water once you heat it up to sparging temps.

    New kettle

My personal opinion, I think the extra $$ for TC options on the hot side really isn't worth the extra money unless you've already invested in lots of those fittings for the cold side. I know SS Brewtech doesn't offer their older versions with the weldness NPT valves, but I had 3 10 gallon...

[Seattle] Looking at SS Brewtech Equipment

For sure - Brewdy if in a few weeks you're still looking I'd make a guess even with shipping we could get a good price for you. I'm not officially posting for sale for a bit since I'm waiting on a few things to come it, and I will be piecing apart my old and adding stuff to the new, selling the...

[Seattle] Looking at SS Brewtech Equipment

Located in San Francisco so maybe too far but worth a shot. In a few weeks I'll have 3 ten gallon ss brewtech kettles available. One HLT with copper herms coil thru lid. One mash tun, not infusSion, with both the ss brewtech false bottom or norcal brewing false bottom. One boil kettle with...

    Claw hammer supply vs. highgravitybrews

Oh dang, I just looked up BrewBoss and that COFI filter basket plus the lifting ring looks pretty sweet. I'd never seen that one before.

    Claw hammer supply vs. highgravitybrews

I'll just provide a little update on my last post... Last week Dave and I went back and forth for a few days over email discussing my order from I think June 2018 to see what I could use and repurpose to shift to eBiab from my 3 vessel eHerms. He answered questions, suggested a few things, and...

looking for a 10 gallon Stainless Mash Tun

Still looking for a mash tun? I'm looking to part out my 3 vessel eHerms and have a 10 gallon SS Brewtech kettle from a few years back that I have used as a mash tun. It is Stainless, but not insulated. I have both the norcal brewing false bottom or the ss brewtech falsebottom. This is just the...
