Clone Beer Coffee & Cigarettes - Cloning Cellarmaker's Smoked Porter with Coffee

I actually don’t have many other beers to compare to, and haven’t had any of the ones you mentioned. The smoke flavor is, in my opinion, just right. It takes a backseat to the coffee and is a good complimentary flavor. Even before I added the coffee, the sample I had was really quite enjoyable...

Clone Beer Coffee & Cigarettes - Cloning Cellarmaker's Smoked Porter with Coffee

So, I thought I'd try my hand at recreating Cellarmaker's Coffee and Cigarettes... and I think I came damn close. When doing a side by side with the real thing, mine lacks a little 'oomf' that Cellarmaker's has. I'd call it 97% cloned by my sniffs and taste buds. Recipe was based off two...

    SF Beer Week

Highly recommended. This year has been great... So far I've Pliny the Younger a few times plus tons of other stuff. My cousin got to Toronado last night and they had Lost Abbey 2011 Kriek on draft. Last night I had Cellarmaker's Works and Days and it's one of the best big beers I've had.

    SF Beer Week

Anyone jumping around for SF beer week? I know I'll be at Toronado a few times. Looks like lots of Pliny the Younger to go around all over the place.

    What are you drinking now?

Clone version of Cellarmaker's Coffee and Cigarette's smoked porter. It's like a 97% clone, dang near spot on. Commercial beer for reference: Coffee And Cigarettes - Sold Out | Cellarmaker Brewing Co. | SOMA San Francisco

Now it's my turn - what brew kettle and what size?

I do 5 gallon full volume mash batches (actually 6.5-7) in my 20 gallon kettle all the time. I know it's technically more than 5 gallons, but I always like to have enough going into the fermenter no matter what I'm brewing. An extra cost and some wasted wort leftover, but it works for me.

    Workspace suggestions?

Yessir. It's actually loosely based off Bobby's eBiab system, just parted together myself. There are some differences in parts used, but overall the idea is as close as I could get with the stuff I had without ordering a ton of new stuff. If I remember correctly, the table legs are 28", so it...

    Workspace suggestions?

I built a small table. Bought a small piece of butcher's block and some wood from Home Depot, and it's great. Not sure if it's something you're willing or able to do? Don't mind the goop on the kettle, it's since been scraped and cleaned. This picture actually convinced me to do a big old...

How long does your brew day take with your electric systems?

For the past year, I've been brewing at night. Which I never thought I'd do after having kids, because I was always so exhausted. But I've got things dialed in that my evenings look like this on my 1 vesel e-biag setup. These are all rough-ish amounts. ~20 Minutes, the night before. Mill...

German Pils Bo Berry Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

Awesome stuff. I just loaded up this recipe for a 10 gallon batch. I don't have any mosaic, so I'll be using motueka instead. Looking forward to making it.

    BIAB-RIMS concept setup

@yorkeken That all looks fantastic, very nice work. Although the mix of ball lock QD and Camlocks makes my eyebrow twitch. :p

    Can you believe this?

My local Morebeer (Los Altos) had a few in stock when I swung by this weekend. I bought all they had in stock since I plan to convert everything in the kegerator over to this since that clearance and angle help a TON in the tight space.
