Building a brew table - advice on components, equipment, and process

    1) I bought the Bayou Classic 82 quart (20.5 gallon) pot. Drilled the holes, added the valve and thermometer, as well as a side pickup tube. 2) I'll let someone else answer this one. You will see what I use in my blog. Extremely happy with it. 4) I built my sparge arm for $12.89. I also...

Building a brew table - advice on components, equipment, and process

Check out the blog in my signature. I just went to 10 gallon all grain batches and am in the process of documenting the equipment and building it to suit my needs. Hopefully you will find it helpful. 1) You chose a nice kettle and it will get the job done. However, keep in mind that...

15.5 Keggle for HLT, 10 Gallon Igloo Cooler for MLT, 20 Gallon Brew Kettle. 10 Gallon Batches. For high gravity/Grain Bills, I also have a 70 quart Coleman Extreme cooler (17.5 gallons). I primarily use the igloo to maintain a good temp/headspace ratio. I am now brewing 10 gallons of...

    Boil Kettle filtration

I don't whirlpool. I use the spice balls mentioned in the link above. They pretty much keep all the pellet hop residue contained. The bazooka screen is an extra layer.

    Boil Kettle filtration

I'll have to try to remember to take a picture tonight. Basically, I got a premade bazooka screen, took the clamp off and removed the close nipple. Then I put a stainless screw hose clamp on the end of the screen. Slide it up the tube to the bend and tighten the clamp.

Stir plate from an old Hard Disc Drive

5400RPM is likely too high, but the electronics control this. If you bypass the electronics, you may be able to control the speed.

Stir plate from an old Hard Disc Drive

How will you bypass the electronics to force a constant seek/read so the platters constantly spin? A power source is the easy part. Problem is that the platters are not always spinning. Hard drives made in the last ~10 years have power saving built directly in to the Circuit board on the...

    The Walking dead

Yeah, well what about the baby that never ages?? Carol should have taken pity on the group two seasons ago and made her "look at the flowers", as well. It's an unpopular viewpoint, but talk about a liability! It's OK, though, every season we get to see Rick actually holding the child for at...

I need to go cheap on my mash tun

Manifold looks good. Myself, I fly sparge so I built another assembly like the manifold to which I connect my pump. You could easily forgo the Quick Disconnect and simply use a funnel and ladle for sparging. http://imperialhops.blogspot.com/2015/03/we-have-decided-on-sparge-method.html
