I use the side burner on my grill when the weather is good to do a quick 3 gallon batch. Not enough power to do a full wort boil, but for a quickie, it works good.
I try to empty my glass carboys before I move them, keep the outside dry and hold them by the bottom. I do most of my fermenting in corny kegs with Pasties on them. But sometimes I will use a glass carboy, I am just very careful with them.
That is sad to hear, I am sorry for the loss. As brewers that is some thing that we should be aware of. Alcohol has a very bad side to it and in a way, we are all dancing with the devil.
Great Ideas, The PVC may work without much change to your plan, but I would think your Stir bar would need to be much bigger, heat resistant, and much more powerful magnates that can go through metal. A motor on the lid with a rod leading to a paddle might work better.
That is an Excellent Idea. I totally agree I think one of my biggest problems is the price. I can make them a lot cheaper with other rubbers, but I have yet to find an injection molding company that can deliver any food grade parts at less than 3.50 for the raw part, plus shipping plus mold...

Thank you for your time to evaluate my Keg Pasties. And I agree with you to a point.
1. It is not always practical to do primary fermentation in a 5 gallon keg. However if you are doing a lager or wine or mead where you don’t have any blow off or a Secondary fermentation it is...
Patents are expensive, The Keg Pastie has had all it's patent paper work done, now I am just waiting on the patent office "Patent Pending". My next Idea I don't think I'll bother with a patent, way too much time and money.
There is no middle ground here.
It is theft.
Common, Yes.
Accepted, Often.
If you can look yourself in the mirror, then do it. If not, don't.
I just ask if you are going to do it, don't do it to the little guy, it cuts much deeper in his pocket.
A 1" hose will not make an air tight connection around the Keg and the air lock. If you are just using it for primary, where the beer is constantly creating enough CO2 to blow out any air, then that is a cheap solution.
You could use a regular Gas Connector and a hose to an air lock, that...
