right? The temp controller was 20 bucks, but then went to home depot to get an outlet, outlet cover, wire, three prong plug, box to put it all in and spend another 30... so thats 50 so far in and dont even have the heat pad... plus the fridge... I better start making some good beer!

    first beer

Thanks. Out of the gate I started a milk stout from a kit the LHBS put together and that is already in a kegerator (Kinda went nuts and bought the parts and threw one together knowing this is going to be a long hobby). That one I just tasted after letting it sit in the primary for 3 weeks and...

    first beer

Got head retention for about 5 min. Own recipe of a hefeweizen but way too much crystal. Still a beer and not bad at all in taste. Under pitched and several goods but not a bad deal. Looking forward to the next

Fermenting slowed then started back up

Now a few days later it is still bubbling every 30 seconds or so (I know the airlock isn't person a Guage of fermentation, but if new CO2 is being created and expelled, wouldn't that mean the yeast are still at work?) it has now been 18 days since I pitched the yeast and seems to still be...

Fermenting slowed then started back up

Siphoning without racking cane or autosiphon

Fill the tube with sanitary water and put your finger over the end... put one end in the carboy and the other hold below the bottom of the carboy and let your finger off (over a bucket or some other container) until the water is out of the tube and just beer is in it... Then pinch off or put...

Fermenting slowed then started back up

So I started a milk stout and dont have temp control...(first home brew) It was a bit warm the first day but then I saw some swamp cooler posts and did that to keep it in the 70 degree range (I am in Galveston and its pretty humid and hot). After doing the swamp cooler the fermentation seemed...
