the most you ever paid for beer

In 1978 my friends and I would regularly pay $6.00 for 6 BMC. We lived in a dry county and never knew what we would get. Just handed over the money and got whatever the local bootlegger had. Can't imagine paying over 20.00 for 6 hot buds today.

    Biab noob

If you do a sparge you would want to add it to your boil and work your way down. I have seen where some use water to top off like extract but I don't have any experience doing it that way. Not saying it is wrong just never used that method.

    Biab noob

From John Palmers How To a Brew. "Sparging is the rinsing of the grain bed to extract as much of the sugars from the grain as possible without extracting mouth-puckering tannins from the grain husks. Biab noob

I think one of your biggest challenges will be mashing full volume in your 30 qt pot. You might could use the maxi-BIAB process to compensate but that would require another pot. Being able to mash using your full volume really simplifies things tremendously. Other than that you will need a bag...

    Best iPhone Brewing App?

Can't go wrong with Brew Pal. I love that I can build recipes on my ipad and they show up on my phone. No extra charge synced to iCloud. When I go to the LHBS I can use the recipe as my shopping list.

Star San turns cloudy, use iodophor instead?

RO water works great as well. I get mine from the local walmart machine for 38 cents a gal.

    walmart water machine

No. You bring in you own jugs and fill. I have a couple 5 gal and several 1 gal. Only pay for what I need.

    walmart water machine

+1 on the walmart water machine. I'm on well water and don't like the beers I've made using it. RO gives me a pretty stable starting point. It is also very cheap at only 38 cents a gal.

    Wiring pid ssr questions

Unfortunately the panel is not deep enough to mount the heat sink vertically. I will keep in in mind if I decide to move to something larger. Thanks.

    Wiring pid ssr questions

Oh. Don't forget the thermal grease between the SSR and the heat sink. I've read a lot of posts where people have fired their SSR in only a couple minutes.
