New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yeah sounds great. I like your changes, fits my tastes. My thoughts: I’ve done all cryo beers that I thought lacked structure and hop flavor from having some t90. So I’d mix in some t90 to your all lupomax. Also, if you feel pretty good about your co2 rouse getting good extraction then I would...

Clawhammer’s Non-Alcoholic BIAB Party Gyle Style

👍🏻 it’s funny that the OG Is so low this doesn’t even work as a yeast farming “starter” beer.

Clawhammer’s Non-Alcoholic BIAB Party Gyle Style

Did you batch sparge for the second? Full volume? I like how easy this could be. I might just move my bag of grains into my HLT, remove squeeze and boil in there. No chill into a keg, cool over night. Ferment, spund and serve from the same keg. That’s pretty low effort!

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I could use some help with my volumes on these beers. As I increase hopping rates the losses get a little out of hand. But I'm really liking to these hopping rates! Best beers yet. Last one yielded me only 14L(3.7) in the keg, whoops! Im starting with 33L(8.7g) of water. Recipe was 18lb...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I dry hopped with my 2022 Galaxy from YVH and they were pretty disappointing. Mild aroma peaches and earthy. Both the mosaic and strata I got from them recently were much better. So bummed to hear the 2022 Nelson isnt great either, I was thinking I could jump on that deal to replace the deal I...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I think that’s a great idea. My general SOP is to use fermentation co2 to purge a dry hopping Kegmenter and a serving keg. Just pre loading the serving keg with biofine sounds great. I would imagine the biofine has some advantages over gelatin for this purpose.

What dose do you guys like?

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Both those beers sound, and look great! Up until the last year or so all my West Coast IPAs had some Munich. It may not be everyone’s preference, but you gotta try it without! I guess that’s one of the points of this thread… to get the balance with no Munich (and no crystal) the beer should also...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've been wanting to revisit dry hopping early during fermentation. I haven't really done it for a few years and I know its mostly out of favor in the thread. But some of the best breweries around me are North Park BC and Alvarado St - they both get a fruity hop pungency on the aroma that...

What do you think of the new SmartRef from Anton Paar?

Well after much deliberation I ordered the EasyDens! The adjustable index on the SmartRef clued me in that it wasn’t going to be as accurate as I want, but the easy dens will be. Seems like a good buy to me, 20% off for Black Friday, free shipping and no tax to CA.

I get trillium in southern CA pretty consistently for some reason for the last ear or so. I’ve had a half dozen all solid, nothing great. Other half made it out here only once that I know of, also solid (it was a 4.5% hazy) so didn’t seem like a fair assessment.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

It’s the 2021 (edit: 2020) for $5. I had it in a commercial lean WCIPA the other day (w Idaho 7 and mosaic) and I was really impressed with it. Had a vanilla sweet coconut thing worked really nicely, reminded me of sabro when its done well.

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I understood, I think it’s a good suggestion. I have never done it for this style of beer, but do it for hazies, so I think it would work for these too. But, isnt it interesting that the “experts” don’t suggest avoiding hop creep the way you are suggesting? (See references above and post #8)...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

So would yourapproach be to avoid hop creep whenever possible? Which for us that must mean dry hop cold and short and hope diacetyl doesn’t form…? I won’t pretend to be an expert on hop creep, It’s a really big topic and quite complicated. But I have listened to a lot a smart brewers give...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I agree I’ve spent most of my brewing life trying to stop hop creep by dry hoping cold and short for hazy IPA. It’s particularly important for that style when trying to keep the final gravity and body high. I first started hearing about embracing hop creep from Vinny at Russian River in a couple...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My jaw dropped when I saw the price. But then I thought, “maybe it sucks this year?” I have a bunch in my fridge I haven’t tried yet.
