Wine for the end of the world as we know it

Or you could get a wine barrel and that will give you 240+ bottles, which will easily last a few months. Why make wine after the doom when you can make it before the doom and just enjoy it after the doom.

Strange results from a known good recipe

It's been just over a week, it's bubbling very slowly. Added 5tsp nutrients to repitched yeast on day 2 and 4. Last night I took gravity measurements and if i'm reading this right, it's at 1.054? and I'm shooting for 1.000?

Wine for the end of the world as we know it

I'm good on emp's, but nuclear winter will certainly put a hamper on solar production and growing season. With full overcast I still make some decent power though with enough panels. Not enough for a luxury lifestyle, but enough for emergency mode.

Wine for the end of the world as we know it

This is why off-grid solar comes in very handy. There's a ton of variation in systems from just your fridge and freezer to your whole house. Producing my own booze is one of the last steps in off-gridding for me.

Wine for the end of the world as we know it

Switch to mead. You can have your own bees, which consistently produce honey, so you don't need to worry about stockpiling sugar. You can also grow grapevine, strawberries, cantaloupe, and various other fruits in your garden, which will allow you to flavor your mead with fruit. And be able to...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Tesla has the best battery management system on the market, hands down. I don't think anyone would argue that. And my system charges fine in the warmer weathers, so that's not a problem either. But I would say your comparison to an ICE vehicle to 1 gallon gas can wouldn't be the same. Unless...

    Making my Pyments

Don't you want to store hte bottles vertically to preserve clarity? I'd assume if you store it on the side whatever is left will settle on the side.

Just received a mead kit for my birthday!

    Nothing beats DIY booze!

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

How much time have you spent on a level 1 charger? Because i've been almost exclusively on level 1. Yes, you can power through efficiencies by applying enough amps. But for slow charging at very cold temps, not so much.

    What are you drinking now?

I first saw this on UK's Top Gear in the Burma special. Since then I've been trying to find it. And a few months ago, I did! Poured myself a stiff one. It went down smoother than expected. And it was more fruity than expected.

    It's called painters tape

I believe masking tape is different than painters tape. The adhesive on painters tape is much less than masking tape. We use painters tape on egg cartons for the dates because we reuse them. With masking tape, they were tearing up the top. Also it gets me for "used - like new" ads that end up...

    It's called painters tape

And it's easy to remove. There's a special place for people who put duct tape on carboys. I just picked up a couple 6.5g for $20 off marketplace, and there were 6" strips down the side of both. And they'd been there for years. It took me well over an hour to get it all off.

    Wings and beer thread

I don't cook, and my wife doesn't understand wings, so my options were limited to take out. Until... Costco's frozen wings. Sauce is great, and they're super meaty. I had them tonight.

What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

Something I made with the help of some AI tools, and I have to say I like how it came out. I'm listening to it on repeat.

    What are you drinking now?

Miller light. It's my outdoor beer that keeps me hydrated when working in the yard, because it's basically water.

What I Did Today To Allow Me To Keep Brewing

The garden needs tilling, but a tree fell across the path to the garden over the winter. so i need to cut up the tree and remove it so i can make a path to get the tractor to the garden.
