Doing a Dortmunder on Sunday, was goiing to brew today and Sun but had too much work around the house for today.

While I am still getting my Ag procedures down, I have to vote for AG over extract also. I just tapped my first AG Kolsch last night and it is so much closer to the commercial versions of this style than my extract ones were.

I actually feel just the opposite of Evan. I think Beersmith is easier to use than Promash. Tried both trial versions and went with Beersmith.

I keep my laptop handy on brewday also. Brewsmith has been real helpful in calculating my strike and sparge temps and volumes. I agree with Flyguy on the inventory function, I wish it would keep better track automatically of when I use items.

Yup good eyes(although no one has commented on the nonstandard piece of brewing equipment that somehow managed to sneak into the shots:o ). My SIL lives right out that way. I stop out at the brewery when ever we are over that way.

Ithica Brewery is out that way, I've been to thier brewery but don't remember how big a distrobution they have. Ommegang is out in the same area as is Cooperstown Brewery which has good beers.

In kegs you are also adding the CO2 to force it out of the keg to the equation. With bottles, once you cap em they are on thier own.

If I have a really big starter I will drain some of the liquid off the top, then swirl and pitch. You won't add that much to your wort by pouring it in.
