    BIAB vs AG recipes

[ I don't BIAB so someone else will have to answer if the 10 gallon pot is large enough. My thought is that worst case scenario would be that you'd have to mash with less than full volume and then sparge. Yes, I thought if I lost too much water, I would top it after I pull the bag and before I...

    BIAB vs AG recipes

I have done 3 homebrews now. All were extract kits. Two came out excellent, the third hasn't been bottled yet. I have a 10 gallon brewing kettle thanks to excellent advice from some HBT members. Now I am thinking of going to all-grain brewing. However, I am 78 years old and don’t want to invest...

    Aeration

Thanks, all for your inputs. I ended up with the idea a starter is much more important than aerating, although aerating is somewhat important.

    Aeration

Just happened to drop back to the general discussions part of this forum today and came across this sticky: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/aging-beer-facts-myths-and-discussion.84005/ . The author stated he never aerated his brew. He just made sure to pitch very healthy yeast. I'm...

I'm another newbie. So far I have just followed the extract kits to the letter and have not made any notes other than brew day, recipe, OG, transfer to secondary day, FG and bottle day. What is Beersmith? Is it cloud storage...a data book...or????

    Tall Boy vs competition

Thanks all for your assistance. The 10 gallon pot with a SS ball valve is on it's way! Now for an immersion cooler.

    Tall Boy vs competition

Whoa ... I just checked this out and it is on sale for $60 with $5 shipping to my state. Might be the way to go. Which is better the brass or stainless ball valve assembly, if I go that way? I was thinking the satinless would match better, but there is a good price difference.

    Tall Boy vs competition

Thanks! I've not had a boilover, yet, and, from the You Tube videos, I don't want one. I'll put the 10 gallon one at the top of my list.

    Tall Boy vs competition

I’m a new brewer. (Actually, I brewed my own back in the middle 70’s before it was legal, but haven’t brewed since.) Keep in mind, back then you just covered the wort with cheesecloth until the initial ferment was over. I’m looking to do my 3rd batch and have been reading this forum. I have...

    Dumb Question

(also modelflyer and micraftbeer) - Have you checked your local grocery? Our Cub Supermarket (part of Super Value) will fill your 5 gallon carboy for 39 cents per gallon. That's $1.95 for 5 gallons. I pay less than $2.75 for a 5 gallon carboy and 2 milk gallon jugs. It's RO so they say. The...
