    Spike Complete System

This is great to hear. How did you brew before committing to a system this expensive?

    Spike Complete System

I'm considering buying a Spike Trio. There seems to be overwhelming support for the system based on this thread but is there any real issues or regrets that any current owner can share?

    Recirculating with Brewers Edge Mash&Boil

I brew with the M&B and mine has the pump. Its not the best pump but it does a great job recirculating. At times it can clog but after you use the unit for awhile its easy to unclog.

    Chocolate Oatmeal Stout

Last Saturday I got around to brewing the double chocolate oatmeal stout. Very fun first experience with roasting oats, brown rice syrup and sorghum. Tasting the raw rice syrup was like super sweet, maple syrup like almost. Sorghum did have a nice sweetness but I noticed the twang everyone...

    Stefan Shoemaker's Porter

Termamyl and Sebamyl are my enzymes. Next batch ill grab ceremix and ondea. I was going to mash for 1 hour, add the extracts and boil per normal. Any things I should be aware of?

    Stefan Shoemaker's Porter

I am going to do a proper enzyme mash with the grains and then will add the sorghum post mash. I also decided not to go with the above recipe but instead went with a Chocolate Oatmeal Stout for my next brew.

    Stefan Shoemaker's Porter

@glutarded-chris @skleice thank you both for the inputs. I've never brewed with extracts and wanted to give it a try. After reviewing more recipes, I think I may just use up some of my leftover grains from the brown ale. What do you both think of this recipe? 6lbs sorghum 2lbs crystal rice...

    Stefan Shoemaker's Porter

Hey everyone. I want to brew a beer with sorghum extract and think the porter recipe below could be the way I go. However, I hate adding sugars to my beer so is there any way I can omit the molasses and belgian candi sugar? I brew with a mash and boil and it can tolerate 16lbs grain bills. I...

    Yeast Starters

Does anyone harvest and reuse yeast? The process looks straightforward except for one part. The Dry Malt Extract addition always seems glutenous and I havent found anything to suggest a GF DME exists. Does anyone use yeast starters? if so, what DME do you go with?

Gluten Free Newcastle Brown Ale Clone

Liked this one so much I decided to do it again. This time I properly used the Termamyl & SEBAmyl L enzymes properly. Some miscellaneous photos of brew day. Work but fun at the same time. Cheers!

Ideas for using grains after the mash?

Hi everyone, What do you do with your grains after the mash? Can they be used for anything? Or should I just dry it out and hope the birds eat it?! Cheers!
