That's a weird thing. Bitterness comes from hops, and IPA's are generally going to be "hoppy-er." IBU is a number that kinda measures how bitter a beer is. So are you saying you like IPA's more than a Bud Light? If that's the case, I don't think it's the bitterness you don't like?

I would think you'd be fine leaving it. The only thing that'd bother me would not be knowing if it is at proper carb. I'd hate to come home to find it'd been overcarbing this whole time. Could your buddy kinda check the carb for you a few times along the way?

I'll agree on the BMC stuff. But a nicely done Lager or Kolsch or Pilsner or other such beer is a thing of beauty.
