☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

@Ruint How did you roast that Taroo? I usually always drop immediately at the end or slowing of the first crack. Wonder if holding out a bit longer might help, but would seem unlikely. Getting ready to roast tonight. Got two pounds I'm going to do. One vintage one new crop. I like...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

HUGE thread. Been on a bit of a brewing hiatus since really 2014. A bit rusty, but made a IPA from a kit and a Scottish Ale. Both suffered because my fermentation temp controller died because it had been so long since I had used it. While waiting on parts, temp climbed quite high (both ale...

    Help with Hop Planters

Waiting for my hop plants from GLH, shipped already. Got my planters all prepped. I drilled like 13 holes and laid landscape paper/tarp over that and added 50:50 potting and garden soils (4cu ft per planter). Mixed it up and put pine needle mulch on top. Got an drip irrigation timer, will...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Absolutely! I had an issue also and the support was above and beyond. Actually, I swapped my burrs for steel burrs since I'm strictly a coffee (not espresso) drinker. My original ceramic burrs have a chip in them. Since I don't use them I don't see the point to ask for a replacement. They...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I have a formula based of the SCCA or whatever their letters are for a profile for coffee. I'm too lazy to mix it up though and use from my daily brews. I think uses CaCl and HCO3. When I got into my basement to roast later today, I take a picture of the post-it note I wrote it down on...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Welcome the the thread Brewers Hardware! I spent a lot of cash with you guys over the years! Looks like I missed out on most of the great fruit bombs this year..... But I am at least keeping to my new rule of not overbuying green coffee. Getting ready to order some more. Maybe I hold on for...

Help! I have been on a bit of a homebrewing hiatus, and starting to get back into the swing. I wanted to look up a website that is maintained by one of the members. Its full of great information about decoction and german brewing techniques. Lot of detail too and chemistry stuff. Perhaps the...

    Nitrogen Levels / Seaweed

Was raining today when I took the pictures. Maybe get some new pics with new hop planters. What did you think about that fertilizer? And the ratio? So the concentrate is two pounds for 1 gallon that is added in 41 oz of each to fill the empty tank (55gal) but that’s for the garden. For hops I...

    Nitrogen Levels / Seaweed

Going to line the bottom with landscaper fabric to keep soil in but allow drainage. Probably add some extra perlite to the bottom. I don’t have much leftover perlite from the garden.

    Nitrogen Levels / Seaweed

Following! I don't use Coir anymore because SS braided wire works great and is permanent. Coir has to be replaced every season or risks breaking where I live. I'll have to post a pic of my setup. Tried pulleys but the SS wire bound them up so plain O rings into my Roof Soffet (Sp?) Can raise...

    Help with Hop Planters

GLH sure does have a large variety, many I've never heard of before. Definitely need to give them a call. By the way, any recommended fertilizer to add to the containers?? Probably should be good to go for the first season I would imagine, but just in general? Going to be a project. Need...

    Help with Hop Planters

Ok then, so NO on the rocks. so 50:50 Potting soil:Garden soil and that's it. Maybe some pine needle mulch. Pretty popular in FL, I think because it deters weeds. Any recommendations on where to buy larger crown type hops, not some puny Rhizome the size of a pencil? Thanks! TD

    Help with Hop Planters

Thanks! For me, the effort and expense of growing hops is much like other gardening endeavors. The freshness of the product is what is in it for me as well as the unmatched flavor vs store bought produce in most cases. For hops, the delicate oils and aromas when used as dry hops or flame-out...

    Help with Hop Planters

Howdy! Been on about 5 year hiatus from homebrewing. Hop plants died out. Had 4 cheap half-barrel planters that broke apart, and now have actual half wine barrels I want to use to plant in. They are water tight, so I'll probably need to drill drainage holes? Not sure what to do. In Florida...

    Carbonation stone cleaning?

Yeah, I hear you on that. I plan to clean with distilled water in the ultrasonic bath cleaner, and dry with CO2 afterward, then sterilize at work in the autoclave, which is convenient because the processing bag becomes a sterile container so its ready to install in the Unitank when I 'm ready...
