☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Been inactive for quite a while. my Behmor coffee pot/brewer died. It keeps beeping and turning itself on or off, and when brewing it started to prematurely open the water valve that is supposed to open once the programmed water temp is reached. I had a pot of crap coffee yesterday because of...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Thank you. I did order a replacement pump (!!!! $100 plus S&H and tax) for a PC that I'm trying to replace but can't because I can't get parts because they are all sold out!! Very frustrating. Well it turns out that the PC throttles the CPU to prevent overheating to an extent. I put a Fan...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I think my Christmas Blend will be the nicely roasted Nicaragua Pacamara peaberry (past crop) blended with some Ethioipian Genji Challa Dry Process. probably close to 3:1 maybe 4:1 on that. Most of my coffee drinking friends are probably starbucks fans still and the Nicaragua is roasted...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Churchhill Breakfast? Do share the recipe or is it just cold brew coffee and booze? So what was the final blend on your Christmas Coffee? I roasted some stuff up for gifts to friends, but I really pooched the roast on a couple so I gotta re-do. What kinda charge temp do folks use for 2lb...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

No not yet. Been working my tail off and got sick so just started feeling better again. Tend to not drink coffee much when I'm feeling bad. I did recently decide to cut back on my brewing ratio , as it seems that it might been too much coffee and not enough water. I'd been using a 16:1 Im...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Anybody using Artisan? Anybody tried using Roast Learner add on (GitHub aderusha search) ? It is an A.I. with USB mic and python coding setup to auto detect and mark in Artisan when it detects 1C start. Let me know if anyone has had success with using. Not much out there about it.

I might be able to convince my co-workers to try my coffee with that recipe. Don't think that boss will be happy with them drinking at work though! TD

Congrats! I ended up buying some of that coffee, and now am officially at my limit for on hand greens. It sounds awesome.

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Kinda disappointing really. Maybe that is why you don't see them for sale because they aren't as good as the coffee. Kind of like the market for banana peels I guess. TD

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Got my Cascara dried cherries yesterday. Not sure what to do with it. Somewhat bitter eating raw, and very dry and leathery unlike a raisin, so I think using them another way is needed. Anyone else try these before? Says eat raw or make tea (no instructions). Bet they'd be good as a...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

thats a good idea. Mylar bags with Oxy Absorber if you can do it. Works great. I am a bit high on stock now myself, but not overly so. Been staying away from GCBC and their 5# increments has helped. I've missed out on some great coffee no doubt, but there is a limit to how much I can drink...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I just bought 5 pounds and wanted to share, but you beat me to it! key word in description that made me buy 5# was... BLUEBERRY I'm a sucker for that. So has anyone tried this yet? I assume NO since its probably so new at SM. FYI they also are selling dried coffee FRUIT! Never had it...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Please pass along any tidbits of advice! I find it extremely difficult to roast in my Bullet roaster because the crack sounds seem muted, and it progresses much faster than a regular roast. I think roasting it darker than I do for non-decaf (My fave is Ethiopian Dry Process stuff) is the key...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I'm not sure exactly when I ordered it. I don't exactly "stalk" SM's page, and they aren't the beast at sending out announcements about new coffee for sale. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. I got a large amount of the Shantawene Village Ethiopian beans which sounds awesome...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

My last order was this: 5# which is more than I normally buy anymore. Haven't roasted any yet. Ethiopia Dry Process Hamasho Village A broad palette of fruit flavors, red raspberry, blueberry, mango, vibrant lemon, peach puree and strawberry Starburst. Incredibly complex dry process and clean...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Would add as a question to others, what about roasting to a particular final temp?? Any merit for that? Maybe easier to do a charbucks roast than shoot for a light roast which will be hard to do because of the decaf process. TD
