    On second thought Im gonna steam them. Since I am trying a clone recipe I dont want to deviate away from the recepes instructions this time. I want to see if it is a good clone or not.

    I dont see why not, you would have to boil them to ensure sanitation. But I dont see why you couldnt do that.

    :confused: Just wondering if there is a recomended time limit for oak chips in the secondary? I brewed this recipe today and it calls for oak chips in the secondary. Im figureing that it will go to secondary ,hopefuly, just before christmas. I know I will be real busy at christmas soo I guess...

    If your brewing ina bucket it should have come with an airlock. And if thats the case then the tubeing is for fluid transfer Ie siphon tubeing. So lets start with are you fermenting in the bucket or the better bottle?

    I dont know about maple syrup but honey is 100% fermentable, so maple syrup like real maple syrup might be. I dont know for sure lets get a better answere. Im intrested in this as well.

    I give a +1 on thr Rogue bottles being darker. But by far the easiest no logo bottle I have found is Hobgoblin. Under a full min in a hot water bath and all the labels were floating. plus they come in nice tall sturdy packs that hold up to getting damp a few times. Sam adams has nice tall...

    I loved the beer great for winter time consumption. Def. warms the insides well. Its probably a good thing that the syrupiness makes you drink it slow at 8.5 abv. I will be drinking this again.

    So how do you figure the amount of base grains in a AG recipe to convert for exstract with steeping grains, since I am asumeing that the steeping grains stay the same?
