    Air Lock liquid - why the alcohol??

    Why not just use a blowoff tube from start to finish. My glass carboy is on a 2 foot stand so I can rack with out moving it and I have a 1 inch hose go from top of carboy to bottom of a 5 gallon plastic water bottle half full with starsan.     You will also do a better job extracting the caffeine if that is wanted with the etOH. Caffeine is not very soluble in room temp water, needs hot water to extract but should be soluble in alcohol.

    Double IPA

    Basket was a large plastic laundry tub. I did not take a temp of the water in the tub but it is very cool to the touch.
