    Gluten Free Summer beer (extract)

I just did a GF blue moon clone, which used cascade. It's "not bad." I say this because I also used sweet orange peel, coriander and malto. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    best GF ingredient suppliers?

It is Briessweet according to the website. In my past trips I have not seen the 45DE in stock, only the 60. But it has been just fine for what I am doing. Also, I haven't tried to look for dry sorghum. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

20# at a time? Sweet... Locally I can only get Bob's GF oats in 2# bags, for $7. Although, my wife has successfully made spent oat cookies. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Gluten Free Milk Stout Comments on Recipe please

With regards to the coffee addition, I would stick with a plain (coffee flavored) dark roast coffee. You have a lot going on already and adding a flavored coffee would muddy things up a bit. The coffee in this case would be there almost exclusively for roast flavors. But if forced to choose...

    No Nonsense Stout

Batch 2 is in the bucket... Following original recipe mostly. "Double" batch, but water up to 5g rather than 6, and 1# d-90 added. Having had bottle sludge issues from my steeping mistake, I went ahead and whirlfloc'ed it. Having been in for 36 hours I got concerned not seeing any airlock...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Well actually... It also depends on the amount of grounds used, the size of the grind, extraction temperature... Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Not beer, but brewing. Short night one night, stopped for coffee, was looking obviously tired. A store associate says "looks like you need some dark roast. That stuff will wake you right up." I was just tired enough to not have the energy to explain that caffeine cooks out in the roasting...

    weighing ingredients

This is either a good idea, or terrible...I will let other more experienced members decide. I got a scale recently. 5.5kg capacity, down to 0.05oz accuracy... And the one time so far I used honey, I filled a Pyrex measuring cup with the correct amount, (using tare button) and basically dropped...

i gotta make gf beer for a hardcore bmc guy..help

Well, between the gluten allergy and the diabetes, I feel like the better solution would be give up drinking (not fun at all, right?) That recipe seems like a decent place to start. You may want to consider 50/50 sorghum and rice syrup. Get him a 6 pack of redbridge and see what he thinks...

    GF lager brainstorm

I bought the ingredients this past weekend, I have a GF blue moon clone bubbling for now, going to do another batch of Ig's NNS, then get around to the lager (just in time for spring *facepalm*) but I bought ingredients as listed above, adding 1# of 5*L candi syrup. Sent from my iPhone using...

    No Nonsense Stout

Roasted oats for round 2 today. It went much better than last time. They aren't roasted to chocolate brown, but they are brown, unlike last time. In the interest of more oomph and a bit more complexity, rather than swapping 1# of D-180 for D-90, I am just adding it. So, 4# 180 and 1# 90. I'll...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

A coworker raided the cooler looking for something to drink. (a cooler that belonged to a different company) It was a hot day. He came back with a Sierra Nevada pale ale. Another said "are you crazy? Drinking beer on the job?" He replied "it's not beer it's ale" A half hour later he said, "hey...

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

FWIW, my only gallon of this that I have completed so far (second is in primary) choked the yeast out, I bottled 2 PET bottles and the rest glass, giving them a little squeeze at capping. Another batch of cider bottled in the same session swelled up, but this didn't budge. Any carbonation it...

    No Nonsense Stout

Well, the 6 pack of 1/2L bottles of coffee variant is in the fridge. Going to dig in tomorrow. I have been contemplating my next batch, with tweaks... 1. NOT screw up the oat roast 2. Swap 1# of D-180 for D-90, keeping in mind I will be doing a 6 gallon "double" batch. So, 3# and 1#. 3...

    Partial Mash GFree Oat Stout

I was considering trading out a pound of 180 for 90 on my next batch of NNS. I have a feeling you'll beat me to it. I still have a lager planned first. I haven't had the time to detour to LHBS for any ingredients. And I am almost out of the NNS too. Personally, due to the wife having celiac...
