    Door tap height?

Where does you hand fall when you grab it for a pull? Seriously, in a commercial establishment ADA required operable controls ( switches, knobs, etc) to be no less than 15" and no more than 48" above the floor. You're not in a commercial establishment, so you can put them any darned place you...

    Adding a Secondary Regulator

Sooo.... the tubing from the tank to regulator manifold input is tank pressure? I thought that run always had to be hard pipe, although I'm not a plumber, much less a kegging expert. My regulators are both attached to the tank via hardpipe which physically sits in the keezer.

First time kegging - Not sure what is happening

when I was assembling my kegging setup, I made the mistake of first purchasing 1/4" vinyl bev tubing and barbs. Had pour problems and ultimately replaced the vinyl bev line with 3/16, but kept the 1/4" barbs. A cup of hot water softens the vinyl enough to slip it onto a hose barb. Unfortunately...

First time kegging - Not sure what is happening

I had to look up "carbing lid" to see what all the fuss was about. The one I saw pictured only had a gas inlet and a PRV. No liquid port at all. Seems one could create the same function on standard lids by replacing the gas tube with some PVC tubing and an aeration stone. No?

    Adding a Secondary Regulator

Sweet setup, man. A simple question: are each of those regulators set to a different pressure? I have a much simpler setup. Dual primary regulators off the tank. One pressure set for serving, one for carbing. The carbing keg is set "on deck" so I always have 2 kegs serving, and 1 carbing. I...

Dip tube stuck in liquid out post. Help?

A bit of information that hasn't been offered yet: the liquid dip tube is not straight. It's bent a bit so the inlet sits in the deepest part of the keg quite close to center. I suspect the tube became stuck when the post was screwed together in the originally assembly, and either the tube was a...

Bubbles in the keg beer line? What does it mean?

I get bubbles in my lines whenever the keg rests for a while. I have my system set up with long lines and low pressure. The burst of bubbles at the beginning of the first pour makes a nice little head.

    Which beer faucet?

My eyes see 2 faucet ports and 3 lines in the baser. What's the 3rd line plumbed to? BTW, that's a sexy tower.

    Shank bore size

Everybody has their own experience. Here's mine. When I first set up my keg system I used 1/4" bev hose and 1/4" hose barbs. Got constantly foaming pours. Read up here and learned the 3/16" tubing was preferable. Swapped out the tubing but kept the same hose barbs. When you fit the hose over...

beer leaking from liquid out, most likely culprit?

I had similar symptoms that turned out to be a missing poppet spring. The keg lube plus the pressure kept the poppet closed until I installed the beer out QD, then the tiny disk got slightly crooked and beer wept out. Recommend next time you go to the LHBS, you purchase a small collection of...

    Stored keg cleaning?

Everybody has their procedure for cleaning kegs. Here's mine: 1. When a keg kicks I pull it out of the keezer, still under pressure, and set it aside. 2. When I get a chance (next day, next week, next month) I open the top, rinse it out with water, then with Starsan. Close up and swish around...

    Curse You Bottling!!!

I bottled for 4 years. Then I bought a 15 gallon brew kettle so I didn't have to worry about boil overs. Figured I could also use it to do 10 gallon batches. Unfortunately the fermentation chamber (5 cf chest freezer with a temp controller) only held 1 brew bucket at a time. What shall I do...

Careful, bra. That only works once :mug:

You know you're a home brewer when?

Man, I used to have a fermenter in the bedroom. SWMBO was up after me ALL NIGHT wanting to get busy. Had to put it in the basement under a blanket to get ANY sleep!!!

    Perlick faucet and cider

sorry to resurrect this zombie thread, but I find it satisfying to report concrete results. I have run 3 full kegs of cider through Perlick flow control faucets with no objectionable flavors or odors. I turn the tap off with the handle, and I use Starsan without rinsing it off.

    Keg virgin

From the beginning, I sized my keezer and gas manifold to store one keg more than serving. There are always 2 kegs serving and one carbing. I carb at serving pressure and leave it alone until the next keg kicks.

    Keg virgin

I started with 1/4" beer lines mated to 1/4" barbs and had foamy pours. Then I switched to 3/16 beer lines, but kept the larger 1/4" barbs. I use the aviator clamps pictureds above and *so far*, after 2 years, have not had a leak. If you choose to go this route, you need to dip the hose ends in...

Is a 60-minute boil really necessary?

Water boils at a given setpoint. 212F unless you are at a higher elevation. A more vigorous boil drives off more water in the form of steam
