Anyone @HBT have experience with butterfly valves? Are they Clean-In Place (CIP)? Unlike ball valves which need to be disassembled to really clean the gunk out. We're not really concerned about high pressures, so ball valve ratings aren't really beneficial. I do know (from another thread) that...

What's meant by "not full drain" -- doesn't it drain completely with the valve on the bottom??

i'm interested to watch your build; thanks for sharing. I've begun prototyping my control software using Labview Statecharts and plan to use a touchscreen eventually -- it'll be a mouse in the beginning. I've always got a laptop with me, but may buy a dedicated SBC so that it is self contained...

@rod - r u using these in a wort path, or just water? It looks like cleaning is going to be tough because ball removal is from the threaded side. I'm always amazed how much junk gets in behind the ball in a valve.

@davidstar - I'm gonna guess this is not ultra-low watt design which may be of concern (scorching an/or over-carmelization) in your BK ... HLT would be fine @theflyingbeer - i love stay brite -- nice work.

I've used gray RTV from Permatex from the local auto parts store. It has great adhesion to stainless, has high tensile strength when cured, and "blends" in

The one in the photo lookes used, dunno. I guess to clean these you'd have to unthread and pop out the ball w/a special tool

And I've read everything on here that I could find, but it seems most posts are soft data -- I'd like to hear some hard data from those that actually use them

not sure, it was a local scrap find. I'm not sure if the fluid to fluid exchange is going to be efficient enough for a 20g system. Like I said, I just wanted to throw this out and see if anyone saw a practical use for it.
