Working with my water profile RESULTS

+1 - I bought some when it first came out -- and there is still only one tablespoon missing from the container. @ajdelange -- quick, make another post your currently sitting at 666

    Butterfly versus Ball Valves

Anyone @HBT have experience with butterfly valves? Are they Clean-In Place (CIP)? Unlike ball valves which need to be disassembled to really clean the gunk out. We're not really concerned about high pressures, so ball valve ratings aren't really beneficial. I do know (from another thread) that...

    For Sale - 2 x 60 Gallon Plastic Conicals

What's meant by "not full drain" -- doesn't it drain completely with the valve on the bottom??

    My FULL-ON electric build thread

i'm interested to watch your build; thanks for sharing. I've begun prototyping my control software using Labview Statecharts and plan to use a touchscreen eventually -- it'll be a mouse in the beginning. I've always got a laptop with me, but may buy a dedicated SBC so that it is self contained...

    eBay find? 1" stainless valves

@rod - r u using these in a wort path, or just water? It looks like cleaning is going to be tough because ball removal is from the threaded side. I'm always amazed how much junk gets in behind the ball in a valve.

    Triclamp heater element design

@davidstar - I'm gonna guess this is not ultra-low watt design which may be of concern (scorching an/or over-carmelization) in your BK ... HLT would be fine @theflyingbeer - i love stay brite -- nice work.

Something tells me I just made a boo boo...

I've used gray RTV from Permatex from the local auto parts store. It has great adhesion to stainless, has high tensile strength when cured, and "blends" in

    eBay find? 1" stainless valves

The one in the photo lookes used, dunno. I guess to clean these you'd have to unthread and pop out the ball w/a special tool

240v Heatsticks: Love 'em or Hate 'em ?

In planning my second eBrewery, I've looked at some of the handywork of members building heatsticks. Some of the newer designs (tri-clamp elbow type) have some real merit. Rather than discuss differing designs, I am interested to hear pro/cons and experience-based opinions between 240V...

    NattyBrew's Electric Brewery Build

@Natty: have you given thought to how your going to wire/install the elements. I'm interested in you reaction to my comments about in-tank v. heat sticks. Some of the peeps have done nice stick work -- and you don't have to put large holes in your new kettles. Inevitably you will need to...

    Stout Kettles?

And I've read everything on here that I could find, but it seems most posts are soft data -- I'd like to hear some hard data from those that actually use them

    NattyBrew's Electric Brewery Build

...another Cincinatti Kal-clone brewer subscribed :mug: Actually a hybrid because of the following changes: Purchasing Stout kettles w/HERMS option SERIOUSLY thinking of building 230V heatsticks - I've been using through-the-wall eKeggles for about a year now and however you slice it the...

BRAINSTORM: How would you use this heat exchanger?

not sure, it was a local scrap find. I'm not sure if the fluid to fluid exchange is going to be efficient enough for a 20g system. Like I said, I just wanted to throw this out and see if anyone saw a practical use for it.
