my relatively small 240v panel eBIAB build

it was no cost difference to get a 2" vs a 1.5" from spike. Ideally i probably would have had all 1.5 for interchangeability, but it's honestly not that big of a deal to have an extra 2" clamp and seal. and there wasn't a good 1.5 option for the same price with a housing

well only one test batch and and a bunch of test water heating, but so far, great!

    New Custom Spike Kettle

I would just have them place them as high, and as low as possible. 1.5 would definitely a bit of a struggle, especially if you're adding any bends, but certainly not impossible. Part of the reason I got a 2-inch, was that I found a nice element for cheaper, only with a 2 in connector, the 1.5...

Yeah, having the top port be TC would be nice in retrospect, that condenser setup is very intriguing

Spike 240v eBIAB build on an oldschool AV cart

That's the lowest they will install it. It wasn't that big of a deal to bend just put a little piece of wood between the two rods and work slowly with soft edges like against a wood edge instead of something metal to scratch it

Spike 240v eBIAB build on an oldschool AV cart

Yeah, that adapter is fully threaded so the dip is started from the inside and the ball valve is threaded from the outside. I spent a long time going back and forth on the 10 vs 15. I figure this way I can do light 10-gallon batches if I ever want to and never have to worry about boil over when...

Spike 240v eBIAB build on an oldschool AV cart

i used the spike diptube with the TC to NPT converter from brewhardware.com https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc15f12npt.htm I also considered this guy, but it was a little less flexible for me https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc15pressfitdiptube.htm

Spike 240v eBIAB build on an oldschool AV cart

ok, not bad! just about 4.5 hrs from heating strike water to clean equipment i think my boil-off rate was a bit high, but ended up with 5.5 gal of 1.054 wort for an efficiency of ~73% I think my crush could have been finer too (double crushed at local shop) My sparge plan worked great! only...

trialing a brew right, basic IPA I'm definitely not using the ezbouil to its full potential (just to manage mash temp and boil for now, it will be interesting to see how my usage of that progresses Tinkering revealed that I need to add a "rinse" water line, and having a bucket and rags nearby...

    Kettle Help for eBIAB build

fair enough, then 10 gal sounds good. Spike is not the cheapest by any stretch, but is certainly nice stuff. the weldless bulkhead options from brewhardware including triclamp fittings make modifying other pots pretty easy
