    Fining Lager

I not too sure if that process is the best option but it's what I do and it seems to work out fine for me. So far no real problems and I'm left with a crisp clean beer at the end of it. I Haven't gone for the addition of extra yeast as I sometimes end up with a partial mix in of existing yeast...

    Oktoberfest...whos going?

Hey see Neuschwanstein Castle Tours from Munich, Munich Tours best day trip I've taken in Bavaria ever! Remember to tip the waitresses at the Oktoberfest or they won't come back! You can sometimes buy beer tokens to exchange for beer (it's a bit easier) Try starting in a more traditional tent...

    Rice as an adjunct

Going to give a honey lager a go this weekend, and I've been reading a bit about using rice as an adjunct in the mash so I figured I'd give it a go. The directions I've read say to gelatinize the rice on a boil for 30mins before adding to the mash. How much rice would be ok for a 5gal batch and...

    adding fruit

Try some in both primary and secondary, But for primary give it a go without a hop bag, just let the wort sit on-top of the pasteurized fruit, use a bag for the secondary as as a fore mentioned yeah it will get messy and best to keep them contained for your final racking purposes. What recipe...

    Unbelievable fermentation disaster!

Haha, a very similar thing happened to me recently, although I was lucky enough to be able to screw the tap back in, no broken thread. But a great story! I'm sure as the others said all will be ok!

    Barleywine conditioning?

My 5 gallon batch took 4 weeks on primary to ferment out OG:1.110 FG:1.010, In secondary at the moment, has been for 2 weeks and I'm planning another 2. I'll keg most of it and bottle the rest. Planning on leaving the bottles until later this year or sometime next year until sampling. Possibly...

What to do after lager?Making a Oktoberfest Lager using White Labs Octoberfest(WLP820

The details sound great, really good for the clean style of the German lagers. You'll still want to prime your beer with extra dextrose or corn sugar but in a smaller amount than usual as your FG is quite high, but be aware that with a bottom fermenting yeast you'll be still fermenting at cold...

    Sweetening Beer

Ok I'll give these ideas a go, has anyone tried artificial sweeteners or are they a bit un kosher for brewing. I mean they would be a last resort as I hate the taste of them.

    Sweetening Beer

Been doing some cheeper extract brews for an up coming party and one of my ales has come out a bit dryer than desired (I was being cocky and brewed it out to long to get a higher potential alc% 6.2 :drunk:) I'm going to keg soonish and was wondering if anyone had just tried plain old cane suger...
