    stuck ferment?

I made my first batch of mead on aug 4 I racked it to a secondary the other day and stole a sip, it was tasty but really sweet visibly it seems to have quit fermenting, no airlock activity, no noticeable bubbles I thought about mixing up some yeast nutrient and tossing it in there good...

I made it in a plastic bucket using enough water for 5-1/2 gallons last Sunday I'm thinking I'll rack it into a 5 gallon carboy this weekend and let it sit there another 2 weeks, then bottle sound about right? this is fun:mug: Dave

    Question about yeast sediment.

dibby33 elaborate >1) Use it as a secondary (helps clear the beer) then do what, bottle (with primer) I assume? >2) Use it as a bottling bucket. If you do this put the primer in prior to the beer and it will mix it in nicely. you lost me on this one, how do you go about bottling...

I made my first batch of mead 2 weeks ago at a local homebrewers meet there were lots of samples past around one was a straight mead that had oak chips added to the carboy it had that distinct "oak aged" flavor rather nice Dave

    >I'm assuming this is one of the Muntons kits that come in a can. correct ok, so this takes the place of the sugar glad I asked, otherwise it would have been some really sweet gruel they gave me a little corn sugar which is for bottling to get the carbonation Dave

    Had to sneak a sample...

I understand it takes time at the club thing last weekend I got to taste lots of different meads I made a straight mead and now I'd kinda like to make another batch of something different thought it sounded good to try something that reportedly was a little quicker Dave

    Had to sneak a sample...

I may skip the last step as I'd just as soon skip the sulfites and don't particularly want to sweeten it up will let you know how it comes out this is WAY fun Dave
