What came in the mail for you today?

Also, aren't breweries using glycol in jackets? They go around the fermenters, not inside them. n240sx, if you're going to submerge a coil in your beer similar to the new Ss gear, just use water. If there is a leak, it won't change the overall flavor of the beer drastically. Ive personally never...

    Yeast still good?

Can you make a starter? If so, do that and your yeasties will be fine. What is the OG and batch size you're making?

    Milk stout

If you're naturally carbonating in a keg, you need to make sure it's sealed. The one time I did this, I didn't get a good deal and the entire batch was oxidized and undrinkable. Try adding some pressure to the keg just to ensure you have a good seal. If you do, make sure the keg is at a temp...

    Fermentation Temperature Control

Can you post a picture of your setup? Is there really no way to tape the probe to the outside of the bucket? I can't fully picture what you're describing so it's difficult to offer solutions! :) To help prevent infection, I would not put the probe in the beer. There are lots of books and...

    bug country 2014

I think it depends on if the cubes are brand new or already used. If new, they impart a lot of flavor in a few days. If they've been used or soaked prior to adding to the beer, the flavor will be more mild and take longer to extract into the beer.

I started watching due to recommendations here. Peaky Blinders. Best 12 hours of tv I've watched in a loooong time. Thanks all for the recommendation! Anyone have a clue when season 3 is due out?

    Stc-1000+

I think you're good to go. Looking at the previous pictures posted by disney7, it looks like that board has the 5 soldering points you need, which the 1.1 version board did not. Give it a shot! If it works, you will be very happy you tried STC-1000+...

If it's any consolation, we don't get fine beers like Little Creatures Pale Ale!

    Avery duganA clone

Another zombie reply, but I was just searching for a duganA clone and I found this thread! Thank you, Buna_Bere, for sharing your info! Make sure you're entering your 0 minute additions as "Whirlpool/steeping" additions with the amount of time you'll whirlpool those hops. I do a 20 minute...

    Houston Group Grain Buy #5

Hi, tracyk, which LHBS did you try? There are several now in the Houston area, and at least two in Houston itself. A new one opened recently (Farmboy Brew Shop). I haven't had a chance to stop by, but they they may be receptive to the idea as it will surely bring in new people to their store.

Thanks for the info. Did they mention why they did a 90 minute boil over a 60?

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

Thanks again, Noah! I too pretty much brew when my little ones are sleeping. In my current setup everything is stored seperately and it takes time to even get setup. If my stand could just house everything I need and all I have to do is wheel it out of the garage if save doe good time. I'll...

That's simply awesome. Congrats! If you don't have a vacuum packer, now's the time to get one! :D You probably won't be using 5# of high AA% Apollo super quick so do your best to keep the oxygen out! For tips on how to use Mylar bags with a foodsaver, scroll down to tip #11. :)...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I use the same water/grain ratio for every batch I do. 1.3 qt/lb. Whatever you end up going with, just use it for all future batches so you can dial in your system. As this will be the maiden voyage on your new system, there will be a lot of room for variation during the brewing process. New MLT...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

Well, I've never been to Stone, but I believe they're using 100 BBL fermenters. If you take the approximate dimensions of a 100BBL cylindro-conical fermenter, calculate the height of the fluid in the vessel (we know the volume), then you could get the approximate pressure at any given point in...
