    Opening my MicroBrewery

BTW, for everyone that's local to NYC - I've made plans with 2 excellent homebrewing organizations (Brewstoria and The NYC Homebrewers Guild) to host meetings as well as conduct classes on how to employ 'big league' production processes to a homebrewing scale. We'll always remember our...

    Opening my MicroBrewery

Don't hate me! If you knew the challenges and reality of opening a microbrewery, you might not be jealous. It certainly is not for the faint of heart.

    Opening my MicroBrewery

Long story short: Years ago, knowing I deeply disliked my then career (advertising) I decided to pursue my love of American Craft Beer and homebrewing. I became a brewer in a fairly large local microbrewery. Eventually I quit to open my own brewery. I am now in the process of...

Is there a mill where BOTH rollers are driven?

I ordered the Malt Mill, so glad to hear of the endorsement! My previous mill was a Barley Crusher. I know when a pebble or such causes an issue and that hasn't been the problem. I reckon if the rollers were wider as on the Monster Mill or others, the issue wouldn't happen as much if at...

Is there a mill where BOTH rollers are driven?

Meaning there isn't a slave roller. I am so done with the slave roller not drawing grain in between the rollers when I go to Maris, etc. Anyone?

Bo Pils with NZ hops - help!

My 2 cents: All the NZ hops mentioned are FRUITY! They are very distinctive, and altogether wrong for a Pils regardless of their parentage. I actually have tried very hard to embrace them even in hoppy ales, and don't like the overwhelming fruitiness. I think they work well in Belgians where...

    Summit hop experiences?

Man, I don't get all the Summit-hate. Especially the 'onion' and 'garlic' references. To me, Summit is definitely a bold hop - with a very spicy, resiny, and slightly citric blend of flavors.

How long can you serve cask ale for?

You know, this actually makes the most sense if I'm going to get into the whole breather thing - which really mimics what is happening in a keg.

How long can you serve cask ale for?

A breather sounds like the ticket... like this?: http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/cask-conditioned-dispensing-pid-CASK-B-tab-reviews.html#tabcontent

How long can you serve cask ale for?

I'm considering getting a firkin to make some cask ale. However, I can't see myself going through a whole cask of beer very quickly, so it'll sit around for weeks at the very least. I'd imagine there will be a 'blanket' of CO2 over the beer throughout the ales lifespan, so the beer won't...
