Call me crazy, but would this make a a really easy hopper for an existing JSP mill?

Should be fine. I use a 5 gallon bucket. Semicircle cardboard inserts funnel it down.

    Painting the actual burner

Went ahead and painted them. Will update with pics when I use it.

corny keg post to camlock - Fittings?

Thanks everyone. Looked around a bit and think that my best bet might be just to drill it out and solder in a bulkhead. The post is leaky anyways and I think dfess1 is probably right - the flow will suck.

    de-slanting a SS wort chiller?

Stealthcruiser, yes, I dont really like the idea of boiling plastics especially when we all put effort into making sure everything else is good to go in there. I might try wires or even some large hose clamps which I can flatten out first. Thanks!

    Painting the actual burner

Thanks, OleBrewing. Yes, I will season the working bits. Just wanted to save myself some work and just have to deal with the outside once. I think it will be fine...

corny keg post to camlock - Fittings?

Anyone one know the fittings needed to go from a corny post to a camlock (male)? To specify I'd like to remove the quick release (gas or liquid) and install an elbow to a camlock. I will use this Corny as a HLT. Thanks!

    Painting the actual burner

I've just picked up a pair of the standard propane burners like this: http://www.tejassmokers.com/images/cast06.jpg for cheap on craigslist. They are rusted pretty bad. Any reason I can't paint the outside of them with a high temp bbq paint? I posted this because I could only find things about...

    Topless Keggles

Do you mean to cut the tops below the handles? I've seen this done but you need to weld on handles. It would get rid of the lip which I find very annoying. I have seen one where they cut most of it below the level of the handles but left them on, which looks a little goofy but probably is...

    de-slanting a SS wort chiller?

Is there a specific type of ziptie that I should use? I don't really like the idea of boiling random bits of plastic in there. Maybe I will try to hunt down some kind of SS rib

    de-slanting a SS wort chiller?

Yeah definitely not looking to do any bending. I guess I will just try to find something that holds it in the right shape and clamp it down the best I can. Thanks.

    de-slanting a SS wort chiller?

Got a decent 50 foot 3/8 SS wort chiller, works excellently but, as you can see it has a mean slant. It was a little slanted out of the box but got really bad after moving it around during chilling. I've played with the hose clamps but cant really make any improvements on the shape. Anyone else...

    Removing stickers/glue from kegs

Great! Would not of thought of that. Looks much better than these other options. Liked the spit shine at the end.

Yeah it seems to me that brew stands are often unreasonably tall. Nice work!

Critique/Suggestions for 2 Tier Brew Rig Plan

This is very similar to my set up - which involves the mash tun being on a chair. Although I have two 15 gallon kettles I only use one - doubles as HLT and BK. I just collect the first runnings in a bucket (later to be primary) empty the HLT into the mashtun and then it becomes the BK. I am...

Chilling wort: immersion vs counterflow, whirlpooled and not. Goal: time.

Yes, I don't have a pump yet but am planning out my brew future. I will be getting a March or chugger. I can tell stirring makes a big difference when chilling so I imagine that whirlpooling would be even better. I feel like I came to the conclusion a while ago not to get an immersion chiller...

Chilling wort: immersion vs counterflow, whirlpooled and not. Goal: time.

Hi All, Need to get a new wort chiller and am wondering how the total time to cooling is effected with the following systems. I know there is various debate about cooling and hop flavours, cold break and DMS production but I am interested mostly in time (and water usage). I expect someone savvy...

Speed brewing with RIMS? | Practical questions about 120V RIMS

Bobby_M thanks for the comment and link. dyqik Thanks for the numbers I think heating the water with both the RIMS tube and a propane burner would probably do the job nicely. Owly055 I understand that to get 240V from two 120V you need to use two outlets that are on different circuits (you'll...

Speed brewing with RIMS? | Practical questions about 120V RIMS

Hi All, I've done quite a bit of research on HERMS systems which seem to be much more popular than RIM, so I thought it might be the way to go. It occurs to me that a RIM system could have some great advantages that I have not seen discussed at length. I should clarify that I value time. If I...

    Noob thinking about starting brewing

Sample some mirco brews. Find one you like and look up a recipe. I would highly recommend starting with Ales. There are lots of easy and 'light' ales to be had.
