New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

This might have been the key here IMHO. What temp did you crash to and then DH at? I typically crash to 50 and keep it there for 36 hrs before letting it freerise back to 56-57 and then DH. Letting as much yeast drop out to the bottom as you can seems to have been the key for me. The beer...

Lager Yeast That Doesn't Make Diacetyl (PRE-ORDER NOW)

Love the science Omega is doing overall. Curious if the enzyme they are saying is in this yeast to prevent Diacetyl production is ALDC which functions the same?

Minnesota NB and Midwest Stores Closing (Potentially affecting MN People)

One thing I always appreciated about brick and mortar stores is to pick my own damn liquid yeast and keep it cold on the way home rather than play russian roulette on whether it will stay good during the summer months. I've also changed my brew choices if the yeast wasn't fresh (<3 months) when...

FotHB XVIII: In Memory of @aharri1 [RIP]

Wish I had gotten to trade with @aharri1 before his untimely passing....RIP Buddy. I'm in on this one as I missed the last one. Should have some decent choices with a few others coming down the pipe as well.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

@hilljack13 Alternatively you can go to the anvil website and look in their discount den. They currently have a 10.5gal for $320! Thats a BIG discount for what is likely a cosmetic issue or its just surplus. That one says its "V1" so Im actually assuming its surplus. BTW, this is likely not...

    Crap kids say

YES you will! My 15yr old daughter specifically showed her "gift" of sarcasm at about that same ripe young age as yours is currently. It only gets better....or worse depending on how you view it lol.

    Crap kids say

FYI: My kids are not youngsters anymore as most of these posts focus on the little tikes. Mine are adolescents (13,15, and 17) now with the oldest becoming 18 on friday. Regardless they are all "adults" in their own minds, full of sarcasm and wit. Case in point: Last week we were all at the...

    What are you drinking now?

NODA radio haze. Decent commercialized hazy ipa. Poured from a keg at my local club. Zero head retention but still solid flavor.

    What are you drinking now?

Me too. It’s a great beer and actually cheaply priced around my parts in NC. Don’t think many know what it is lol

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I have only brewed a couple IPAs this year due to venturing out into other styles but I do enjoy Columbus a ton onthe hot side and Ive often used a touch of it (1-2oz max) on the DH to help bring that character through to the final product

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Can never get good lighting in the house at night but this is force carbed leftovers from my NEIPA I kegged today - only the second NEIPA Ive brewed this year! lol. Used some Moutere in the boil at 15min and 5min but the rest (including DH) is all Nectaron, Citra, and Nelson. The Nelson...

New post a picture of your pint

How’s the Barke Vienna? I’ve eaten the grains and loved it but curious how it came through in the final beer

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I think this also depends on the yeast used. IMHO, Verdant, Juice, LAIII all don't let the hops shine as much as a24 dry hop. I still like them all but yeast esters can also sometimes cover up the hop profiles

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

For me, I think the balance is at 56-57F for a total of 48hrs contact time. After I soft crash to 50 for 36hrs, I will gently let it rise to 56. Then I measure my DHs out and put them in a tupperware container to warm up to room temps for about 1hr. If Im using a whole 2oz pack, Ill keep it...
