    I think I actually ruined a batch...

So back in August I brewed up a bunch of batches with the intent of leaving them for a while to clear up real nice. Well all the batches have been bottled/kegged & consumed already except for one extract kit of a Nut Brown ale. About a month or so ago, I checked the gravity and it was...

Forgot to take an original gravity reading

Actually this is my first gravity reading. I'm going to stir it up and wait a week or so and see what's going on.

Forgot to take an original gravity reading

I brewed an AHS Chocolate Raspberry Stout (partial mash) and forgot to take the OG. I brewed it 1/9 so it's been in the primary for over a month. I planned on kegging it this morning and the gravity is reading 1.028 & it should be 1.014. Should I just keg it anyway? I'm carbing this with...

    First time kegging tonight...

Thanks a ton for your help Baja. My plan was to hit it with 30 and shake it a bit, leave it overnight at 30, then purge it, lower the pressure to 20 until Christmas Eve, then set it to 10 and hope to serve on Christmas. Is this too far fetched?

    First time kegging tonight...

I'm brand new to kegging and all the equipment was from my cousin. It used to be setup for commercial kegs. I bought new fittings but figured I was set with the regulator he gave me. here's a full pic of the regulator.

    First time kegging tonight...

My cousin had a kegerator from college and had no use for it when he got home so he gave it to me along with a co2 tank. I'm ready to keg & force carb one of my batches tonight and am not sure how to read the regulator. There is co2 in there I'm just not sure if there's enough.

    Kegging tomorrow need help

as I always here/say, don't fear the foam! Starsan is specifically used by most because it doesn't effect the taste (Effect or Affect, I never get them straight)

    Kegs from Keg Connection

I just bought a single keg from them a few weeks ago and it looks & smells clean. Obviously I'll be giving it a good cleaning and sanatize but there was no visible nastiness.

    Keg natural carbonation pressure question

Thanks for the quick response Yooper. The more I've read, I think I may just do the set and forget method. Hit it with 12psi for 2-3 weeks. The brew has been in the primary since early August so I think it should be pretty good in the 2-3 week time frame. Does that sound accurate?

    Kegging Wheat Beer

Yea I've seen that across the board. I've never used a secondary and don't plan on it. I figure after hearing/reading everyones advice saying relax and everything works out over time, as long as you're a patient person, leaving it in the primary longer will only make the beer better...

    Line lengths for keezer

I'll be using 10' for both the gas & the beer line just because that's what I've read. I figure you can always cut more if needed.

    Keg natural carbonation pressure question

Is this still the case if I'm going to keg condition for a month or so? I don't want to mess with force carbing right now, I was planning on using the same method for the kegs that I use when bottling. Keg the brew with the priming sugar solution, let it sit for a few weeks then throw it in...

    Kegging Wheat Beer

I'm very new with brewing but 20 days of fermentation seems extremely short. Is there a reason you moved out of the primary after only 10 days? I know my method may be a bit overkill but I like to leave it in the primary for a month, bottle it and then maybe same one or two but leave the rest...

    Forgotten beer makes a comeback!

Awesome! I think this NBA might be my 'house' brew as well. Plan on always having a keg of it on hand. I'm a bit OCD so I'll probably bottle a 6-pack knowing I'll have a full 6er rather than only being able to fill up 5 or something. Just me...

    Forgotten beer makes a comeback!

report back! Every batch I make from now on will get one 6pack set aside for just about a year or so for a real good conditioning. Time to start accumulating kegs!

    Forgotten beer makes a comeback!

I like Cheesy's suggestion. I'll bottle a 6 pack and keg the rest I think. Is there any calculation to see the time difference between bottle conditioning and bulk conditioning? If I'm not force carbing a beer, I can do the normal water/sugar ration I always do when bottling still right?

    Forgotten beer makes a comeback!

So technically leaving it in the keg to condition will just cut the time substantially? That's even better.

    Forgotten beer makes a comeback!

So I brewed a Nut Brown Ale 3/18/09, bottled 4/19 and just found/drank one last night 11/28. It was one of the best beers I've tasted in a long time. Here's my dilemma. I've got another batch of this same Nut Brown Ale sitting in my basement that I haven't had the time to bottle recently...

To pitch more yeast or to not (and bottle)...

hmmm I did the whole preheat the oven trick and thought my temps were perfect. I guess I'll bottle & see what happens. Thanks Nurmey

To pitch more yeast or to not (and bottle)...

Not like this means anything but these were my first attempts at a mini mash. I've always done all extract kits and wanted to give this method a shot. It didn't seem difficult at all but for some reason won't hit the final gravity.
