Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

I finally transferred to secondary and my final gravity came in a 1.005. Definitely lower than biermunchers 1.007. The test sample tasted very good. This beer is not going to last very long.

    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

I just did a 10 gallon batch of this yesterday. I split the batch into 2 separate boils. I used US-05 and wyeast kolsch so I can see what the difference is between the 2. I have to say that the kolsch yeast took off like crazy and I had to add a blow off this morning. I also have it sitting in...

Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

Thanks for the reply, kind of what I thought but I've never had a blow off start so late in the process.

Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

I brewed this about 10 days ago. After 12 hours there was some airlock activity. It continued pretty steady for about 2 days. It slowed down after that but never stopped. Today @ day 10 I went downstairs and krausen was bubbleing up through the airlock. I use the wyeast belgian wit yeast. I know...

first all grain. quick OG question

I'm a new brewer myself but I have your temperature correction coming in @ 1.067. I use Home brewers Assistant on my computer for my temperature corrections. I now use a refractometer so I don't have to let a larger sample cool to room temperature.

Hannah Checker PH meter reading are all over the place.

There definitely is some drift. I re-calibrated the meter using AJ's suggestions and then I let it sit in the 4.01 solution for an hour. It drifted to a reading of 3.92. I'm thinking I may want to spend a little extra and get a more stable meter. If I'm making adjustments with lactic acid and...

Hannah Checker PH meter reading are all over the place.

I purchased The Hannah checker from my LHBS and I have to say I'm disappointed in its performance. I treated and calibrated according to the directions. First off the calibration is a manual calibration were you have to use a small screw driver to calibrate the 4.01 and the 7.01 range. This is...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

I've read the thread twice now and I think I have a handle on the whole primer. I am using 100% R/O because my well water, although treated still has too much ferrous Iron(fe-). My only question I have is about the deviation from the primer. For the British Beers I will be adding the tsp of...

American Pale Ale Cascades / Orange Pale Ale

@ blacklab, I made this beer as my first partial mash ever. I hit all my target temperatures and was very happy with my result. I went with an additional 15 minutes on the boil because I started with 6.5 gallons pre-boil and I needed extra time to reach 5 gallons. I was able to adjust my final...
