My Monster Mill is on its way. I can't wait to try it out.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm having the same problem, the only thing I can point to is the crush. I just ordered the mm2 from Midwest. I use RO and monitor PH and my thermometers are calibrated. I will be running some tests when the mill arrives.

    Wiring TC-9102D temp controller

I agree, give yourself more wire, it looks like there is enough room to loop the wire in your control panel.

how to calculate water/grist ratio for pumpkin ale

The recipe is from HBT, "Samhain Pumpkin Ale" my room temperature PH came in at 5.3. I expected it to be 5.5. I used AJ's primer in the science section and I'm usually spot on with PH. My gravity came in at 1.046. I have a feeling the pumpkin puree adds a little acidity to the grist. My...

how to calculate water/grist ratio for pumpkin ale

I just did a pumpkin ale 2 days ago and used a 1.25 qt/lb ratio. I used 4 lbs and I did not factor the pumpkin in at all and the mix was perfect. There is plenty of moisture in the pumpkin. The only thing that I was not sure about is how the pumkin affected the PH. It came in lower than expected.

Recycled Steel for my new Brew Stand

I finally installed the second burner and attched the silicone tubing to the pumps. I still haven't install the gas pipe as of yet. I had to go out of town for some more commercial work for a couple of weeks so I should be able to complete every thing when I get back. I will include some new...

Recycled Steel for my new Brew Stand

Thanks ChuckO, I was debating on building a gravity system. But I opted for the single tier because all that water is getting too heavy for me to lift. I still have a lot of steel left. Maybe I'll put the framing of a fermentation chamber together and find a recycled fridge. Still a lot to do...

Recycled Steel for my new Brew Stand

I recently aquired some steel framing from a comercial job and decided to build my brewstand. The actual framing is 3" square and the deck and shelving are made of 1 1/2" steel angle. I put everything together with bolts and screws. I am still in the process of building everything but I do have...

Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

I bottled this about 10 days ago and it tasted great from secondary. I just opened a bottle and it had a buttered popcorn taste. I assume more bottle conditioning will clean up the diacetyl issue. Any thoughts on this issue. I appreciate the comments.

    Beersmith????

IMO, Beersmith is probably the most useful program available for formulating recipes. I use it all the time and the newest version includes an internet cloud where you can store and share recipes with other brewers. It'll be the best $20 you'll ever spend beer related. I suggest getting...
