    Fridge temp control unit???

Keith, Is that Johnson thermostat a digital or analog? If it's analog I'd recommend the Digital A419 http://www.zymico.com/controls/ You can buy it wired or not, depending on if you are electrical savy (I'm not). Those prices include shipping, by the way. If you dig hard you can...

    Just did my first cider.

Weird, my cider never really krausened.... I was told to expect it to look nothing like a beer fermentation. Mine keeps bubblin but looks just like cider sitting there.

    First Cider

Still fermenting away. Last I read the gravity it was 1.022 by hydrometer. Bubbling about every 8-9 seconds now. Once the fermentation slows more I'll move it to secondary for a long storage.

Walker, you got the braid wet. You cannot get anything but the metal probe wet on those at all. They do exactly what yours has done. People on other forums have 'baked' their probe back into working order . I don't recall the specifics, though.

    Keggle Help

You pretty much got it. But if you get the universal kettle it's got welded fittings on it already, so you don't need the 'weldless basic plus kit' you'd need a 1/2 NPT barb on the outside and a 1/2" ball valve. Same for the thermosight, you'd just need an elbow, your glass tube (or high...

    Question on boil ..

I dont see how that's possible with the type of boil you are describing.. What do you collect for post-boil gallons?

    Question on boil ..

Jesus, what sort of boiloff rate do you have? When I do a slow calm boil I still boil down from 7.5ish to 5.5 in an hour or a little more.

    Madness in my Method?

Batch Sparging compared to Continuous Sparging, or Fly Sparging or to the old schoolers, simply Sparging isn't quite as efficient (although some batch spargers claim otherwise). In general most folks see a 5 point increase from Fly(Continous) in comparison to Batch. There are however, folks...

    Madness in my Method?

Yes sir. Just like that. As the water rises through the FB/Braided hose/whathave you.. the grain absorbs it.. the folks who use this method do not usually need to stir to keep dough-balls from forming.. SUPPOSEDLY this leads to less heat loss in the transfer as well (like when I dump 3 gallons...

    Madness in my Method?

For what it's worth, underletting is the way to go as far as filling your MT ;) I don't do it. no pump.

    Madness in my Method?

I'm sure it's been said but ideally you want your two runoffs (if batch sparging) to be about equal. If your post boil volume is 6 gallons, make sure you run off 3 the first time, and 3 the second. For instance: My typical pre boil volume is 7-8 gallons. I mash-in with 3 gallons and let...

Supposedly Salt-Lick BBQ was voted best BBQ in texas, but I say nonsense. It's dry, yack-tacular and I've had better bbq from my grocer. To each their own.. though. :)

Yeah their "Shiner 96" (A Martzen) isn't like any Martzen style I've had before.. Overall the only shiner I've liked is their normal Bock (which isn't very Bock like anyway).

Hrm, it's a shame you aren't around on the 17th. The Austin Zealots group gets together at gingerman every 3rd Saturday. I've never been, but it seems like it would be fun.
