    Honey and Bourbon barrel

Ok next question. How would I prime a couple bottles before aging in the barrel? I'd like to capture a couple bottles of just honey stout but also want them to carbonate in the bottle.

How much water to add after boil?

I'd still keep an eye on og. I just filled to 5 gallons once and my og was way off.

How much water to add after boil?

From what I've been told, you work your way up to the 5 gallon mark while keeping an eye on your og making sure not to go out of the range.

How much water to add after boil?

I just didn't know if that would 'water down' my wort. My beers have always turned out excellent t, just didn't know if I was not getting the full potential from my wort by adding too much water. Thanks.

How much water to add after boil?

I've brewed about 6 beers now and I'm on another now, but just had a thought. I have a pot capable of a 3 gallon boil. I'm using 5 gallon kits. After I've boiled my 3 gallons, how much water do I add to the primary? Do I just add enough water to the 5 gallon line or do I compensate for boil off...

    Honey and Bourbon barrel

Is there any way to just figure out the abv using my hydrometer and a number of measurements? My plan is to primary for 5-7 days or until it slows down, transfer to secondary and add honey. Let sit until I get the bourbon barrel and age in that 7-10 days. Bottle, let sit, then enjoy!!

    Honey and Bourbon barrel

Since I'm going to age this for a bit in a barrel, should I add the honey to the barrel or the secondary? Can the bourbon barrel handle the beating of an active fermentation from adding honey to the starving yeast? Also, looking at honey last night at my local grocery store and I didn't see any...

    Help with barrel aging

I'm adding honey to my secondary so it's probably a bad idea to use the barrel as a secondary right? Will a barrel be able to take the beating of an active fermentation? For you guys that put some run in until you were ready for beer, how much did you put in? Can I just pour a half fifth of...

    Honey and Bourbon barrel

Wasn't sure exactly where to post this so I thought I'd give the science division a try. So it’s almost time to brew my stout and I’m getting mixed feelings on when to add the honey to my brew. My goal is to end up with a Honey Bourbon Stout. I’ve acquired a bourbon barrel...

    Help with barrel aging

I’ve been brewing for a few years now and I have the opportunity to get a 5 gallon bourbon barrel from my local distillery. I’ve perfected a stout that I’ve made a few times and I’d like to age it in the bourbon barrel I’ll be getting. My issue is that I’ve...

    Manually cleaning beer line

Any ideas for just a line and tap? I don't have the line hooked to any couplers. Can I hook up my line to maybe a siphon and push cleaner through the tap? Then rinse with water? Any downside to using starsan or should I be using more/other chemicals?

    Manually cleaning beer line

Anyone familiar with cleaning beer lines without buying the fancy pump bottles? I was looking at some cleaning kits for my kegerators beer line and thought that maybe it would be easier to run some starsan or other detergent through the lines manually and get the same effect? Anyone have a way...

    Yo!

Hey guys, I rejoined, and I'm probably asking to be banned again, but I got banned for not signing on for awhile and couldn't contact an admin due to my banning. I'm a huge fan of the site, but was without internet for almost a year and I'm back. I have about 6 beers under my belt and my...
