    Unusually low efficiency

I do a 2 stage batch sparge. This recipe: 1. Mash @152 for 60. 2. Drain into BK 3. Add 1.5 gallons @ 168 4. Wait 10 minutes 5. Drain into BK 6. Add 4 gallons @168 7. Wait 10 minutes 8. Drain into BK 9. Kick the tires and light the fires. I'm starting to wonder if my initial mash temp was too...

    Unusually low efficiency

To be honest... I did not inspect that very closely . I get my grains from the same place all the time and they are actually part of a pretty reputable nano brewery. I am pretty sure they use the same grain mill for the home brew store as they do for the brewery. So I'm doubting that Is the...

    Unusually low efficiency

Third time I have used it. Its been pretty good so far. I also checked its calibration with distilled water.

    Unusually low efficiency

Hey all... So I would still consider myself a fairly new brewer with only about 10 All-Grain batches under my belt. And I came across something I am hoping you can help me with. In all of my recipes prior (save one, but I didn't mash long enough for that one) Iv'e consistently been in the...

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

I have not. Not a bad idea. Would definitely get more people involved. Do you want to take the lead on that? I know members of FLAB and PBD have talked to Jack about a brew club because they were sick of driving to Davie/Boyton for the meetings. I think once the word gets out about this...

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

Ok, Here is the latest. I spoke with Jack at length yesterday about this. He is very open to the idea of having a brew club at the Main brewery. I just sent a response email to their brand manager requesting a Wednesday meeting day. I was thinking either the 1st or last Wednesday of...

New Jersey 3 keggle all-grain brewery

Ugh... If I had the money I am going to be in East Brunswick the end of December. Would totally pick it up.

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

Also, just heard back from the Oakland park brewery, they are willing to let a club meet there. We would just need to schedule a time and they will reserve a spot. I think at this point it will be wait and see. If the home brew store is starting one up I might just join that one. Would...

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

The new guy there seems to be more enthusiastic than Phil. He told me early October he would send something out about the club, and the home brew comp was pushed back two weeks.

Ill ask again when I go there this weekend.

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

I was un aware of this group. I know Buddah was talking about doing it, the last time I asked (a few weeks ago) they said nothing is being done about it as of yet and the owner was yet to approve it. There is a non affiliated group of people that meet there?

    South Florida Brewers Unite!

Just FYI, I just emailed Funky Buddah Brewery in Oakland Park to see if they would allow a Home brew club meeting once a month. Thinking of naming the club H.O.P.S. "Home Brewers Of Pompano South" Still a working title... any names suggestions would be taken into consideration.

Any home brew clubs in the Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Area?

So I think I am going to try to get a club going on my own. PBDM and FLAB are just too far for me. Would you have any interest in a pompano beach club? Going to see if Funky Buddah in Oakland park will allow us to meet once a month

    Idea for a product

I don't have any prototypes just yet, This is still in the idea stage. I'm really just judging to see if there would be any interest in such a product before I shell out any money for a CAD designer and models.

    Idea for a product

Yes very similar, Kind of a cross between that and a better bottle. Would keep the 1/2 NPT fitting at the bottom for trub drainage, add in another port for racking like the Blichman chonicle fermenter. The top would taper to hold the current size bungs and airlocks just like a glass...

    Idea for a product

Hey All, I wanted to post this here as well to get some good feedback from you DIY'ers. So I have an idea for a better "better bottle". One that has: 1) Conicle shapped bottom with access to drain trub and rack finished beer. 2) An enlarged, yet sealable opening for the addition of...

    Idea for a product

Took a look at the videos on there... Seems very cool. But how do you secondary, if you so choose? And how would you add and flavors to the secondary without releasing all the co2 you have built up?

Ha.. yes, Very close. I was thinking mine would be a 3rd of the price though.

    Idea for a product

Hey Brewers, So I have an idea for a better "better bottle". One that has: 1) Conicle shapped bottom with access to drain trub and rack finished beer. 2) A enlarged, yet sealable opening for the addition of fruits/hops/ease of cleaning..etc..etc.. 3) Would still be compatible with your...

    My first lager!

Thanks all.. After reading your posts, I think I'm going to use a 1 gallon glass jug as my starter container and use two vials of WLP-830 in a 2 liter starter. Using yeastcalc.com and a 71% viability for my yeast... it looks like I wont even need to step it up. This seems like the best way...
