RIMS is driving me crazy! Help!

I am using this element: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/element1500_short.htm I'm gonna try a different configuration of my rims tube on the next brew day and do as you suggest to shorten the distance between the element and the probe. I'll see if that make a difference and...

RIMS is driving me crazy! Help!

Here is a video of what is happening: http://youtu.be/-9R9z2k5wuo I'm not really sure why it is happening, but it seems as if maybe my element is not heating the wort fast enough to register with the probe at the out out if my RIMS tube. So by the time the probe reads the temp, the element...

AC to DC power converter issue

To power my Amp meter, I am using this converter: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BXAM694/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I've got a doorbell transformer, bringing down the AC voltage from 120 to about 19v, based on my multi meter readings, However, the converter is reading ~21 VDC on the out...

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

Thanks, You think the closer the better? I'm going to try moving it to the outlet first, should be a pretty simple solution. Cause ultimately, its the temp of the wort leaving the tube that I care most about. The more I think about it, the more I think I'm getting a pocket. There's...

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

I don't think so, it's a good 8-10 inches away, plus if that was the case, the temp probe would be reading higher than the wort coming out, no?

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

It's mounted vertically with the temp probe on top. I'm using a 1.5" probe that's on the electric brewery site and a RIMS tube from Brewers Hardware: https://www.brewershardware.com/Tri-Clover-RIMS-Tube.html So its possible there is some standing wort in the pipe above the outlet, that's...

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

I have calibrated it using water, thought it was under control until the brew day, where it was off by 17 degrees. think I'm going to switch the location of the probe from the end of the tube, to the actual outlet using a t-pipe or something. I'll take some pictures tonight.

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

Thanks Ozark, Not sure if I didn't explain things right, but I am measuring the temp coming out of the RIMS tube, not the kettle. I have a temp probe on the "out" side of the tube. that probe is telling my pid that the wort is 152. however, when I read the temp at the end of the sparge...

    Calibrating MyPin TD4s

So here is a question. When my pid is adjusting temps, the pid only goes up a degree or two, but when i measure the wort temp coming out of the tube, its 17 degrees higher. Meaning my pid is reading 152, but the temp of the wort going back into my mash is 169. Should I really be...

Ok, First, I'm sorry if this has been asked 1000 times already, but I have been searching for 3 days now, and can't find the answer I am looking for. Maybe I'm just not very good at searching, but... So I just put together my own single tier, 15 gallon All Electric RIMS system, it's...

    "Element On" lights acting Funky...

"Bob, tell the man what he has won!!" It was a wiring issue.. figured it out when I took the wires from the light that was working and hooked it up to the boil kettle relay. The light lit up, so I knew it was a wiring issue. In the process of replacing the terminals, I noticed when I pulled...

    "Element On" lights acting Funky...

Ok, so new updates... 1) I think I have a faulty switch that toggles between by HLT and BK. No matter which one is on, they both draw power. I even removed the hot line that trips the BK, turned it to HLT and the BK outlet was still drawing power. Which is strange though, because the BK...
