How, and how often to clean mill?

Fun to see so much conversation! I am going to blow mine out with the air compressor next time it's used.

Why might one keg develop more pressure than the other when on same manifold?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I do have a fan in the kegerator, but a rogue zip tie had stopped it. At the same time the keg was much lower in volume than the other. So I guess with the lower volume and lack of circulation the liquid got much cooler and absorbed more co2, only to release...

    1st time brewer

I find in wine and mead that(in general) there are going to be unwanted/undesirable flavors when young. It may be harsh, bitter, too dry, lacking flavor, alcohol too hot aka "rocket fuel taste", etc. These flavors take time to mellow out. I have bottled earlier than 6 months and each time the...

    1st time brewer

FWIW, I let my meads go at least 6 months before bottling. Just make sure to rack off the sediment if it gets thick. If 6 months has past and its clear then it should be good to bottle.

Why might one keg develop more pressure than the other when on same manifold?

Last night I noticed my Pale Ale was quite foamy and was pouring much faster than the NEIPA I have in the same kegerator. I gave a short pull on the PRV of each keg until I heard the CO2 bottle refilling the co2, the pale ale had a whole bunch of pressure behind it (my rough guess would be...

    What makes a beer "filling"?

Maybe this is anecdotal, but I feel that beers I brew with flaked oats/wheat tend to have that thicker mouthfeel than beer brewed without.

How, and how often to clean mill?

Was just looking at my mill(Cereal Killer) and it is(truthfully has been for awhile) covered in fine white powder. Do I need to clean it? Will there be extra wear and tear if not cleaned? I normally just bump it a few times on the bucket and knock what I can loose. Seems like such a simple...

Best place to get a grain mill

I have my mill(Cereal Killer) set at .025 with no issues, used a feeler gauge to set it. You will want to use a drill to run it. My next brew will be in a week or two, I'd be happy to post a picture of the crushed grains if you are interested.

Best place to get a grain mill

+1 on the Cereal Killer from Austin Homebrew. I bought that exact mill on day_trippr's suggestion and it has served me very well for the past 2 years. I have my gap set real close for BIAB and my gravity always comes out above target.

Adding raspberries to wheat beer, when should I add?

How long do you leave the beer on the raspberries? I just picked up a couple of bags of frozen raspberries, do I need to worry about sanitizing them or should I just add them as is? Thanks again!

Loss of wine due to racking

Number 2 stopper works great with beer or wine bottles and you can use a standard airlock with one. Rubber Stopper - #2 With Hole | MoreBeer

Loss of wine due to racking

Maybe use plastic wrap with a rubber band to secure it? Is it still actively fermenting?

Loss of wine due to racking

It is a good idea to top off, though I have never run into wine going bad if there is just a little extra headspace after racking. Depending on the wine you are making you could always top off with some store bought wine of the same style. You could add boiled water, but that will dilute your...

Adding raspberries to wheat beer, when should I add?

I picked up the ingredients for a cranberry wheat recipe I had been wanting to try without thinking about the fact that it is late spring in the south and non of the stores around here carry frozen cranberries at this time(I can only find craisins). I did notice that fresh raspberries are...

How to clean mold from silicone gasket?

Today I discovered, much to my horror, that I had mold growing on the inside of one of my Big Mouth Bubbler Lid Gaskets. Is it salvageable and if so how should I clean it? (I'm normally quite good at taking everything apart and cleaning, not sure how this slipped, but it is a learning lesson for...

    Preparing Spent Grains for Chickens

I never thought to feed frozen, I will start doing that from time to time in the summer when it hits the upper 90s/ 100s.
