Fischer Bottles: TLC (and a lot of Oxiclean)

As far as I can tell, it's one size fits all. I didn't bother looking for sizing before I purchased them, I just bought whatever was available and they fit perfectly. They're a little thick, but they do stretch, so you should be able to get them onto the stopper.

Fischer Bottles: TLC (and a lot of Oxiclean)

A friend of mine asked me if I wanted a bunch of old, dirty bottles he got from a neighbor. I'm always looking for more bottles, so I said I'd swing by. Turns out, he had a case of old Fischer swing-tops! But these poor things have been out in the rain and the cold for a long time. I had to deal...

Dave Miller's The Complete Handbook of Home Brewing

My girlfriends parents just gave be this book from their old brewing days. Has anyone read this one? It was published in 1988, is there any outdated info I should know about? I've been studying Palmer's How to Brew like a textbook for the past few weeks, I'm interested to see what...

    First Ever Batch Underway!

I steeped the grains for 30 minutes in a separate pot and strained them into the water just before I added the extract. I took a brewing class at my LHBS and that's what they did, and their beer tasted great! I want to get a few more batches under my belt before I try BIAB. I'm working my way...

    First Ever Batch Underway!

Oh, no, it's extract. Those were the steeping grains. I definitely don't have the resources to do all-grain.....yet.

    First Ever Batch Underway!

Yesterday was my first brew day, and it took a lot longer than I anticipated (it took almost an hour and a half to get up to a boil). I'm brewing a dunkelweizen (Near Dark from Eagle Rock Brewing Supply), which should be ready to bottle in two weeks. I nailed the OG, measuring 1.045ish when the...

    Hello from LA!

Hi everyone! After much research I attended a How-to-Brew class last weekend and was instantly hooked. This Saturday is my first brew day, where I'll be brewing a Dunkelweizen (Near Dark, from Eagle Rock Home Brewing Supply). I've been lurking for a few weeks and thought I should make an...
