    When to rack into secondary?

Solid Ingredient Kit from Midwest Supplies

Virtually none. If you could elaborate a bit, I may have more info. I prefer to keep my apt on the cool side if that means anything. (65-70 degrees)

Solid Ingredient Kit from Midwest Supplies

I am assuming most on here are familiar with Midwest Supplies in Minneapolis. I am wondering what a solid, middle of the road beer (no pun intended) ingredient kit would be? I would like to do an ale, I don't have the equipment to lager right now. Any advice appreciated.

    Carboy advice

Is it wrong that I want a glass carboy for "the mad scientist" look? From what I see flavor impact is not really an issue from container to container. Thanks for all the help!

    Carboy advice

Ok, a couple questions about secondary. A glass bottle vs a plastic "better bottle" pros and cons? Also, what are the pros/cons of just using a primary vs transferring to a glass carboy secondary?

How long did you extract brew before going to All Grain?

I really didn't mean to start anything on here, and it really is pretty cool how civil everyone has been. I don't see that on any of my other message boards. I didn't mean to elevate AG to being superior to extract. Good beer is good beer is good beer. But I honestly feel like I'm baking bread...

How long did you extract brew before going to All Grain?

I assume most people on here do all-grain brewing. I am just curious as to how long you did extract brewing (if at all) before understanding the process enough to do all-grain. I have done two batchs, a hefe, currently in bottle stage, and a lager, still in secondary. Basically I am just reading...

    Just bottled my first beer!

I know, I'm bad. But the intructions say 1-3 weeks. is 3 weeks pretty much mandatory for any brew? As far as the 1 week of cold aging, this is the first I am ever hearing of it. Could someone elaborate on this please?

    From Beginner to Master...

I would say that the "advanced brewer" has all knowledge in the process of every aspect of brewing. They know what works, what doesn't, and can school the average brewer. The "master brewer" would know that they still don't know everything, and understand that they can never fully learn...

    Just bottled my first beer!

It was a Hefe. I got impatient last night and popped one. (Been bottled 24 hours) I did hear the Phht when I opened it, it was still flat, but it tasted pretty good. Alot like bananas actually. Ill probably open one again tomorrow night. Like tom petty said "The waiting is the hardest part."

Home Brewing is illegal in Alabama??

Yeah, It was a bit of an emotional rationalization, but opiates come from opium. Isn't it strange that one is very illegal and others are prescribed by doctors? Yet it's all the same drug. You are right, but you have to admit, pharmaceuticals are a business now.How many different boner pills...

Home Brewing is illegal in Alabama??

According to secular history, and science, beer was around about 5000 years before the dog was domesticated. Truly "man's best friend." And yes, they feed us ****, and then people actually realize it, and they ban it. Imagine a miracle painkiller with no nausea, no anal seepage, no dimentia...

Home Brewing is illegal in Alabama??

If you want to freebase dog poo, or mainline cheeze-whiz, then you go right ahead. Yeah, it'll probably screw you up pretty good. If you commit a crime while high on cheeze-whiz, then lets lock you up for that crime. If you take the model of most of western Europe, and treat drugs as a social...
