    Single Tier Brew Stand

http://morebeer.com/view_product/15781/103677/Hop_Back_with_1_2%22_Female_Threads I put 6oz of pellet hops into a 5 gallon batch, and tried to let the hopback, with 3 ounces of leaf hops in it, filter out the 6oz. Did not work... So, all I can say about my hopback is that I'm really...

    Single Tier Brew Stand

Well, I used my hopback. I ended up just putting 6 oz of pellet hops into the boil pot, thinking the hopback would filter anything out... Not so much. I clogged the drain on the brew pot, and the chiller. I started my boil with 7 gallons. When it was all said and done I had...

    Single Tier Brew Stand

Yes, I am fly sparging. But they actually aren't 3-way valves. I didn't realize it when I ordered them, but they only offer flow that moves in a 90 degrees, I can't move straight thru. And I was counting all all liquid that gets left anywhere in my design. You know, I was coming from a all...

Ok, here are a couple of shots. I should have put them closer together, and bent them with a tighter fit.

    Single Tier Brew Stand

Well my smaller two pots leave some behind, and then I feel like the plumbing stays full. So maybe a half gallon in the lines, and a quarter gallon in each of the smaller pots? I need to measure it to be sure.

    Single Tier Brew Stand

The biggest thing that caught me by surprise was how much loss I had. I've only brewed on it once, so I don't know an exact amount, but I'm thinking around a gallon.

    Single Tier Brew Stand

I used some $2.50 pack of these arms from walmart. They were only bent at 90 degrees, I added that second 90 degree bend with a vise, and some pulling. I've got another pack at home, and I can post pictures of what I started with later. I'm going to make a list of all the questions I get...

    Shirron Wort Chiller Death?

Well here it is after 4 hours at 800F. Not a great picture, but you can see most of the black stuff baked off. You can see here that allot of the black cooked off. I'm going to put it in an acid bath and then post some more pictures.

    Shirron Wort Chiller Death?

I bake it last night. Oven cleaning on High for 4 hours. The residue is mostly gone, and I'm thinking a good acid bath will take care of the rest. Thanks for the advice guys. It's quick responses and great answers like this that keep me coming back!

    Shirron Wort Chiller Death?

So at this point what are you guys thinking? Oven set to max for a few hours?

    Shirron Wort Chiller Death?

Hello knowledgeable people, I think I'm ruined my wort chiller... :( I baked it in the oven at some temperature I don't remember for an amount of time I don't remember. It was months ago after I had only used it a few times. Black oily stuff bubbled out, and the wort chiller itself changed...

Single Tier BS Dough In Questions

Brew Standers, I'm designing and buying all the parts for a single tier brew stand. I'm up the the dough in step. Whats the best way for getting the mash water to the grain? The easiest solution would be to run all water into the mash tun thru my sparge arm, but is this the best idea? My...

Blichmann Thermometer vs Bobby_M's EZ Weldless Sight/Thermometer Combo

I've got thermometers in all three of my pots, and after seeing the sight glasses, I'll be replacing all of mine with the thermo/sight glass combo. Now I'm building a single tier brew stand, so the site glasses will be up closer to eye level instead of on a burner on the ground. As for when is...

    My wodden rig, just finished.

I'm doing something similar, in that what I'm planning also includes a burner on a stand on a wooden stand. What is the height of your burner from the wood? and have you seen any effect from the heat?

Moral dilemma...about a dog (long post)

Well some dogs are afraid of kids for whatever reason. Perhaps you could ask the Daisy likers for a plan to condition her to be around children, and make them sign something that says they will take her to classes, or something like that. Investigate what the training that the VA will pay for...

Moral dilemma...about a dog (long post)

Well, IMHO... I have a friend that’s a Vietnam Vet, and I always take my dog when I go see him because she does calm him, and he is in better mood when she's around. But I also have neighbors that are a part of a dog rescue program, and am aware of the responsibilities there. I think that...
