What's more depressed than the average Irish Pub?

Sorry, I've been to plenty of bad ones, but now I've got a great one within walking distance. So come on over to Marietta, go see http://www.johnniemaccrackens.com/ and then take the 10 minute drive to Brewmasters Warehouse. I feel a bit spoiled (not to mention I'm 25 minutes from the Brick...

    Hella Yella Pale Ale

Thanks, I have to admit, that hopping schedule was just a gimmick to say we'd done it. Try splitting a 1 oz pack of pellets into 6 even sections, on 4 22s of RIS (there were two of us). I am getting ready to do a partial mash RIS that we are going to age for 4 years. Ive only done extract +...

Who here is also a reef geek?

Cool, Im not an engineer, just an automation system programmer. I dont think any of the engineers I work with are brewers (openly) or reef guys, but I'll have to ask around!

Who here is also a reef geek?

Cool! Just as I thought! I have had reef tanks for 10 years, right now I only have a 40 gal breeder which is "really" my wifes, just upgraded the lighting to T5 so we are ready to step it up from our softies only. We've got a pair of clarkii clowns and a coral banded shrimp, and our 2 year old...

Who here is also a reef geek?

I am a reef tank enthusiast, and many of my reef tank friends and public aquarium friends also brew their own beer. I think many of the same principles apply, art and science, clean technique, patience is a virtue, etc. Anyway, if you have a reef tank, chime in!

Complex flavors from grains or flavorings?

Thanks guys! Your responses have been added to the notes section of my BeerSmith recipe. I'd much rather get the grains to provide the flavors, I'll check out my books and online to figure out which grains will provide which flavors. I figure that since I am doing a partial mash, most of my...

Complex flavors from grains or flavorings?

Im going to jump off the cliff with a buddy of mine and brew an imperial stout which we plan to age for 5 years and pop on our 40th birthdays. I'm inexperienced (<10 batches under my belt) and he has never brewed before. We are planning on getting a bunch of RIS's (old Rasputin, Yeti, brooklyn...

    Headache in a Bottle

What if it is not the beer, but the kegs & lines? I know one bar I go to, no matter what I get on tap I get a headache. Ive suspected whatever they might be using to clean the lines might be the cause, or maybe not cleaning them at all? Just a thought as it is another "common", have you had the...
