How many gallons of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale have been made?

Has Ed ever made any? I mean, after that first batch?

How long does it take to cool your wort?

Anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Do a search for "NO CHILL brewing".

What do you do while your beer is brewing?

Cleaning up, etc. Besides, if I sit down SWMBO will appear out of nowhere with a request that I do...something other than relax.

    Don't Brew in the Dark

Can somebody please give me a RDWHAHB?:( I'm a confirmed BIAB brewer, and brew in my old, no-electricity, detached garage. No problem. I brew with the door open so I have enough daylight. Last brew-day I got started a little late, and the light started fading, but BIAB is so simple...

    Stout bottling question

I'm making a clone of Mackeson XXX Stout (from the Clone Brews book), and it says bottle with: 2/3 cup corn sugar 2 oz. lactose Does that mean both, or is it either/or? Thanks!

    Berliner Weiss

This sounds very tasty and tempting. I haven't ever done a sour, so I'm looking forward to hearing how this turns out.

Cost of Beer Kits vs Buying Bulk

If you're in an area to get in on a group buy (easy to find in most larger metro areas) you can get a 55 lb. bag of two-row for a ridiculously low price/lb. But you need to move to crushing/grinding your own grain. Lots of people buy base grains in 50 lb. or 55 lb sacks (depends on type of grain...

How much grain do you have in stock?

I usually join a group buy to get 50 or 55lb bags of base grains. 2-row, Maris Otter, Pilsener, Munich, and wheat. other grains I usually buy anywhere from 2-5 lbs at a time, depending on frequency of use. Probably no more than 200-250 lbs at any one time.

Please help me move to all grain

If nobody suggested it yet, take a look at the BIAB (Brew In A Bag) method of AG brewing. It's originally an Aussie method. For many of us, BIAB was a quick , easy, low-cost move to AG brewing. There are naysayers, but there are hard-core devotees, as well (myself included).

    First BIAB=Failure

I ALWAYS do a 90 minute mash and a 90 minute boil with BIAB (read that on one of the Aussie BIAB sites).

    First BIAB Brew Finished!

now you need to look into "no-chill". Adds a lot of flexibility to your schedule. Saves water and/or ice. I'm on my third batch . So far, so good.

    Group Buy in Chicago #6

Bmason, When I log in now to the group buy site I no longer see a message that says "current group buys" or "current group buys you are in" like it has for the past two weeks. So am I in? Or has something changed? I thought I was in for 1 bag Thomas Fawcett MO, one bag light Munich best Malz...
