    Whirlpooling

You can also try loc-line on your return and just point it where you want. I think on our scale it can be difficult to get a good trub pile. I use kegs which keep the pile even better contained....but it seems there's always quite a bit at the bottom...even with whirlfloc. A funnel with strainer...

    Welding With Strut

Hello Brewlanders- Been less active for a while, expanding my skillset and pursuing other hobbies. Here's a little project I did the other day....a single burner stand made from UniStrut. A couple things: 1. This stuff is cheaper than new mild steel. Steel is approx $5 a foot for 2x2 square...

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

Simple, but beautiful. I envisioned something like this a few years ago, but my project took twists and turns in other directions. Crazy to see how popular BIAB has gotten.

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

Is that solid round bar for the grate, or pipe? If solid, that stand has got to weigh a LOT!

    The Ultimate Brew Stand

Very nice! Keep us updated on how the powdercoating holds up to heat around the burner.

Any Idea What my system is worth If I sold It?

Have you tried BIAB? Do you like it well enough to sell everything off? You definitely won't make your money back on a system like this....since you already have everything, why not just use it? BIAB is cool if you are starting out and don't want to buy equipment....I can understand why you want...

My insane 25 Gal, 100 Percent Hard Plumbed Tri-Clover, Automated Tippy Build

Nice build! I have no doubt that you are at least pushing 600 lbs....based on other rig builds and some heavy machinery that I own. Consider static versus dynamic weight ratings when you deal with casters....if you move something under load it will be subjected to higher stresses versus just...

    Squam Lakes Brewery with Pictures

Wow...I doubt that came from Blichmann...lol! FWIW, you might be onto something....with multiple larg(er) fermenters, you can be more flexible. Of course, a giant fermenter/kettle would allow you to really get the flagship beer into every store in the state.

    Brass taps and Cancer?

Your friend is well meaning. Lead is more closely associated with neurological damage. In the amounts it might leech, you don't have to worry. There are plenty of other carcinogens that will get you first. By the way, BEER is a carcinogen. Alcohol consumption and cancers of the digestive tract...

Theory idea on pipeline and wort storage

+1 to the Australian method.....but I do worry about the leeching of nasty chemicals into the wort, especially at high temp. Same reason why vinyl tubing is a no-no on the hot side. If you think about it, extract achieves what you describe. It is a concentrated form of wort...just add water...

    Glass carboys and better bottles

Unless you're aging for a really long time, oxygen isn't a problem. You might as well use a bottle or keg as a secondary if you plan on doing the high ABV stuff.

    Scuba's Herms Build!

I seem to have gotten several requests for plans....I sort of did this on the fly (not that it was a quick build)...HERE IS AN AWESOME PRIMER...Instructables is a fantastic site in general, and this particular instructable will give you some ideas. NOTE: I did not use cedar wood \ or curve the...

    BIAB Keggle Build

It's probably too late, but it looks like the PVC outer hose is a bit big. You only need a bit of clearance....that should decrease the size significantly. Also consider that the cfc can wrap around the keg and you can drop the height quite a bit. That would decrease the risk of toppling the rig...

    My One Vessel AG System

Good thread. I wonder if using glass marbles at the bottom would decrease the bubble size? Oh yeah, and don't forget the fermcap.....never had a boilover since I started using it.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

    864 posts on this thread.....crazy.

Different idea for a sight "glass"

Yep...this is a good solution...just be sure to check the clamps every now and then. FWIW, an oteiker clamp may be useful, since they apply even pressure all the way around.

Throwing around ideas for DIY trub filter

You would be better off putting a false bottom in the kettle....then recircing through the bag. You would basically be recreating the conditions inside a Mash Tun, but still keep the system to one vessel. You could also ditch the RIMS at that point if you wanted to...and do a low heat...

Chillzilla counterflow chiller need adaptor for wort out to cam lock

I soldered a male adapter to mine.....just find the closest sweat fitting. It won't be exact, but you should be able to flow enough solder in there to seal it. The chiller is actually brazed, so you would have to really be way out of soldering heat range to do damage....a MAPP torch could cause...

CFC's: Chillus vs. Chillzilla vs. "regular" CFC

They make a stainless one now....

    SS autosiphon... any interest??

Delrin would be a good choice...maybe even some of the high durometer rubbers....
