Ultimate BIAB rig - Build Thread

Nice use of plywood. I love how cheap materials can be made to look classy!

    Hopster Hopscreen

Dude, you shoulda kept it thick! How badass would 1/4" rings be? Of course, your spot welder would protest.... What kinda lathe are you using?

    Ss false bottom ?s

Could be useful for other things....they look like great lids for a keggle. I think you might be able to use the material for a hop filter as well. Or, a parts washer if you are into tools and machines. But, as stated above...if you need a FB then just buy a purpose made one because these will...

    March AC-3B-MD Pump

If you need 3/4" fittings, check buyfittingsonline.com and for camlocks you can check proflowdynamics.com If you're restricting the pump by way of plumbing, then you might as well sell it and buy a smaller series 2 pump. The series 3 pumps are impressive in a home system, especially for...

    Cheap compact wort pump

Cool. Looks like it could be useful as a secondary pump, or even a primary one on a small system. Not so sure about the second video where he submerges the pump wiring....

DIY grain mill in the works...

Nice. Will you be able to heat treat the rollers? EDIT: I guess 1018 usually doesn't benefit from hardening....not really needed since the rollers will only crush grain.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

You would also need a beer done with no hops as a control.

    Corny keg/fermentor

Just sanitize the keg as is, but do yourself a favor and remove the liquid tube. Mix up your posts or QD's and that keg will empty everywhere. trust me, you'll only do it once. Use fermcap to keep the krausen down. When it comes time to transfer, replace the liquid dip tube and pressurize to 5...

Remove Dip Tube and Popits to Clean?

If you don't like to disassemble the kegs, just make a keg washer using a large submersible pump. By running tuping from the pump to dedicated QD's, you can run solution through the diptubes and also into the main keg body. SEE HERE

    My eBIAB single-vessel build

That's some nice Pron there! I had no clue they made the CFC's in stainless...I never liked how it was the only copper thing in my all-stainless system, it just didn't seem to match. Makes me want to go back to using a CFC!

5-1/2 foot DIY Hood for approx. $75

Not sure what the proper name is, but there is a type of condensate trap you may want to consider. Sort of like a p-trap on a sink....the duct right off the hood goes down, then sharply back up and you can place a drain in the bottom of the "U" where the water will collect. Should keep a LOT of...

Brew 10gal concentrated and adding 10gal boiled water

You can add dme to make up for it.

    Inexpensive 12" stainless lids

Food Service Warehouse actually has 14" ones too....nice. Sometimes 12" is still too small and the bigger ones can be difficult to find.

    Hopster Hopscreen

These are being sold by stainless brewing and on Ebay....probably for right at what it would cost to DIY. I know the ebay guy will custom build as well.

    316SS 4500W elements on eBay

Good job! See, it wasn't so hard...you'll get better after a few tries. These joints will be plenty strong as long as you don't completely abuse them. Now, think about all the cool stuff you can do with this new skill! In some ways it is better than welding, because you can remove the fitting...

    DIY Multi-bottle gravity filler

How about one valve inline, THEN the manifold? Use tubing clamps if you want to turn individual lines off. One valve controls the rate, and shuts them all down at once....should speed up your operation while keeping things simple.

    Hey, Look What I Got!

All 316SS and thick glass....I'm sure it'd be fine. But I've done RIMS before...not really interested in that. Probably gonna direct-fire the MT to hold temps. Cool thing about heavy ss is that it holds temp once it warms up.

    Brew Hardware

Not sure if this is the place for it, but.... Just wanted to let everyone know that Brew Hardware is legit. I ordered a fair amount of fittings, camlocks, diptubes, etc. and was very impressed. Prices are VERY reasonable. The attention to detail in packing everything was outstanding, and...

    Divorcing my plate chiller

The cfc still needs to be filtered for whole hops. Here's my experience with just trying to drain without any sort of filter. A bazooka will work splendidly. http://youtu.be/ZbPT06H2guo http://youtu.be/6hWisfvMaxM I really like the chilzilla/chillus convolutus.....keep in mind they have a...
