    South Florida Beers

Naples has a Total Wine & More (http://www.totalwine.com/StoreList.aspx?store=908) and a Whole Foods. Both almost always have a better selection and price than most supermarkets / liquor stores. Although its not clear from the distribution list, maybe you can get CCB in the bottle there if you...

(another) Alton Brown/Good Eats "Amber Waves" Episode Discussion

AB actually corrected a lot of the mistakes with this show in his latest book "Good Eats the Early Years". He uses a muslin bag for the specialty grains and actualy removes them after steeping for 30 mins at 155 degrees, boils for an hour and has the correct hop additions. He even adds Irish...

    Dented my Better Bottle!

So... I finally got around to making the BB hopper (much the same as a few others on here, except the having to use a BB part ;)) after the holidays and this is what I ended up with: I'll probably make something more permanent to hold the hopper in place instead of using a clamp in...

    Apfelwein question?

That's nothing to worry about. Just give it some more time and I'm sure it will be fine.

    Is clumping head/foam......

Curious... Is this on one of your kegged beers and if so did you force carb it? I have the same thing in a recent keg of blueberry ale. It tastes great and I actually like the thick foam. I'm thinking it just needs a bit of time since it's still a little green (same as you described)...

    First batch

That's still really early.. I would leave it in there for at least a week then check it. I typically leave my beers in primary for more than that anyhow. There are a lot of variables that can affect fermentation (just do a quick search on here and you'll find tons of threads on it).

    keggle coupling welding alignment?

I do the same with teflon tape. As far as getting the couplings welded. I bought a step bit and drilled the holes myself then took it to a local TIG welder and paid about $25 per weld.

    Dented my Better Bottle!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm a bit hesitant to use it again as a fermenter. So... I've decided to cut the bottom out, turn it upside down and use it as a new grain mill hopper instead of the funnel I am using now! hah I'll consider this lesson learned.

Ever wonder how UPS handles "Fragile, Glass inside" labels?

I had a magnetron replacement for my microwave show up in a box that looked really bad. They driver didn't even ring the bell. My guess is he was scared that I would be pissed. I almost didn't want to use it but I let the repair guys install it anyway and it worked like a charm heh It was...

    Simple batch sparge question.

I run it till its dry, but I slow down the pump (if you have one, if not the premise is the same) a bit so the grain bed doesn't compact too much to the false bottom. Then when adding the first sparge I mix the grain again and reset the grain bed.

Tallahassee home brewer (soon to be)

Welcome aboard Grasslands! I started brewing in Tallahassee about 14 years ago with a kit from the Homebrew Den. Back then they were located in the shops around Lake Ella and have moved a few times since. John is a great guy and very helpful. He once told me that I needed to get my...
