    Simcoe IPA (advice needed)

No problem. My brew partner and I are just trying to figure out if anything needs to be changed. Our ZD clone turned out amazing, so we thought that by equally switching out the citra for simcoe would be great too. forgot to add in the OP... we used 1056 yeast, and plan on the same for our...

Will a cold crash make everything fall?

Ok, I had a feeling that a cold crash wouldn't drop the pellet crap. I will rack like you said, Yooper, and possibly use the hop bag as a filter towards the end of my racking. (on the hose)

Will a cold crash make everything fall?

We are dry hopping for 5 days with 3oz of pellets. We have the extra fine bag, but I think I'm just gonna dump them in loose. We plan on cold crashing in an ice bath for 3-4 days. Also, we're not using a secondary. Will there be any pellet crap still floating after the cold crash? And if...

    Just tasted my primary!

We followed the extract version of the Zombie Dust clone recipe, except we switched the bittering hops from citra to warrior. We tasted the primary.. and wow, it smells and tastes very similar to Zombie dust!! The aftertaste is kind of similar to body odor... We weren't sure if this is from...

    How do we prevent foam?

We used the metal mesh screen before the bag, but since we used pellets the particles were too small and going right through the metal strainer. The hop bag was awesome and did a great job at filtering out a ton of crap. Also, I forgot that the foam is good thing. However, we definitely lost...

    How do we prevent foam?

When racking from the brewpot into the primary, we filtered through one of those big paint bags from Home Depot. It caused a ton of foam inside the carboy, to the point where it was just spilling out the top where the funnel was. How do we prevent this for our next brew? It dried up on the...

Ok great I feel better. We pitched a starter and the thing was going crazy within 20 hours.

    nervous

When tracking to the primary, we filtered through the paint bag from home depot (sterilized) I squeezed the bag at the end with all the hoppy juice.. not sure if my hands were entirely sanitary because I touched a towel right before to wipe up foam. Did I run my batch possibly? Should...

    Rubber stopper in primary?!

Brew partner pushed the rubber cork too hard and it ended up right inside our glass carboy. Obviously, we can't put the airlock and blow tube on anymore. What do you suggest? ATM we have a piece of foil over the top of carboy. Will the rubber stopper have an effect on our brew? (For what its...

    starter question

last night I pitched my activator packet.. it was inflated like normal but I dumped the plastic bag in by mistake. We left it in there over night, and I just removed it like five minutes ago. The part of wyeast packet didn't pop... it was completely inflated with this black liquid inside. The...

    Noob questions

My local homebrew store is telling me I really should use a secondary. They said it's because of how much hop I plan on using. He said it will be cloudy if I don't use a secondary.

    Noob questions

i'm looking for a good IPA recipe.. the flavors we want are citrus and grapefruit, something like a hopped up version of zombie dust. It is our first time so we want to do extract. Our favorite hop is citra but we were looking at some recipes with cascade also. Do you have any suggestions?
