Fixing or welding a Stainless Keggle hole?

Man I'm not a welder or fabricator by trade but do have a bit of experience w/ metal. To me it looks like this thing was tacked then a light bead welded around. You can clearly see the two hot spots where it was probably tacke to hold the patch in place. Trying to avoid heating and warping the...

    Aroma Hops?

I'm a newb but think that the Cascade would do a good bit better for bittering at 60 min. I just brewed an IPA AG and put most of my Cascade & Centennial in for 60min. And then used Willamette towards the end of the boil. I calculated about 54-57 ibu. (per online calculator). I bottle tomorrow...

    Safale US-05 Pitching Question

Total noob (less then 15 batches total under my belt) I have pitched both dry on top and rehydrated. I haven't noticed a difference. Rehydrated for my Skrawberry Cream Ale last night just for S&G.

    What are you drinking now?

Weinhenstephaner Korbinian Doppelbock. Pretty good. Then again after waking up to this any beer is good.

What to make with left over keggle parts

I've actually repurposed the handles in the ring (I cut my keggle different) to be used as handles again. Works great and doesn't budge when keggle is full.

What kind of music do you listen to while brewing

Kool to see a lot of rock listeners. I'm listening to either 90's rock/grunge/alt (nirvana, Korn, Manson, alice in chains, etc) or hardcore/scream-o (iwreatledabearonce, a plea for purging, August burns red, etc) or the occasional dub step. Out of all my brewing friends tho I listen to the...

    Keggle JMZ Style

Shoot keep forgetting to add that my handles are cut to angle together creating a small handle on the out side, I did the others with a wider handle as they make great mash paddle/spoon rest while boiling.

Here are some pics of my keggle as mentioned. Sorry for crappy cell phone pics.

Oh cost of ss wore will vary depending where you go. I got mine on our contractors account so 2lb spool was under $12. I think normally it is about $20-$30.

    Keggle JMZ Style

Welding set up is a Hobart 140. Think I am using an 80/20 argon mix. I am not sure how it will react with the ss wire as I have read conflicting reports on the gas to use. As for flex at the top, the two we did yesterday are just ground smooth with a mild bevel. They had very minimal flex but...

    Keggle JMZ Style

I test all handles by filling it completely full. Because the are recycled from the top (which is curved) they have a natural arc to them. This arc plus top and bottom welding of the contact points creates a very strong handle. Hell I lifted myself off the ground leaning on the handles. I'm...

    That last bit of sediment

Thanks. I can't take credit one of the guys that taught me home brewing told me something along that line. So just sharing the beer zen.

    That last bit of sediment

That's little bit left in the bottom is the Beer Gods portion. It's what you sacrifice for future great batches.

    Keggle JMZ Style

Well some of the local brewers have had decent reviews of my brew keggle. Had a few buddies come over today to get their kegs reworked. I purchased some stainless wire and we got to work. Here is one of them. Still have to get the hardware to weld in the bungs for his electric heating element...
