    Best Small Pressurizable Fermenter?

Take a look at the snub nose fermentasaurus. It’s the 1st gen fermentasaurus without the butterfly valve and yeast catching ball making it much shorter. 9 gallon capacity and pressure rated with a floating dip tube. I’ve only done 1 batch in mine but it went super slick.

Can I get some advice on spunding

Well so far I haven’t narrowed down my options; if anything it looks like I have more things to try out. As an update I went ahead and ordered the BlowTie spunding valve setup and it’s on its way on the slow boat from China. This is my first order from alie express and wasn’t my first choice but...

Can I get some advice on spunding

Aah, while my fermenter is in fact conical in shape, it does not actually have a dump valve so I would have to pop the top. Oh, or I could push a sample out of the floating diptube. Hmm. After you transfer to keg do you use a spunding valve or do you seal it up and trust that you have the right...

Can I get some advice on spunding

@Dland thanks for the description of your process. I’ve thought of doing something similar but I’m intimidated by the need to monitor the gravity and intervene at a certain point. I’m curious, do you do a forced ferment in order to know the FG expected? I’d be worried transferring before final...

Can I get some advice on spunding

Alright I’ve been thinking about this a lot so this’ll probably be a longer post. I recently bought the 35L snub nose fermentasaurus fermenter and I’d like to make use of its pressure rating. First off I’m hoping that using a spunding valve set low (maybe 5 psi) can help to keep the Krausen...

Rusty Kegerator - Can It Be Salvaged?

Yeah my fermentation freezer looks kinda like that (although not quotes as bad). That said it already had rust when I got it (for free) and I’ve used it over 2years without it actually getting noticeably worse. You can get rust products that are supposed to convert rust to a stable state...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

Great post rph! I’ve never dipped my toes into sour brewing because it seemed like it would be too complicated, take too long, or give unpredictable results. The method you outlined looks clear and concise with no need for extra fermentation gear so I’d like to give it a try. The only...

    Rhubarb Wine

Thanks for the replies. I’ve pitched the yeast this morning and I’ll report back when the wine is finished!

$99 PET Conical up to 35 PSI

Sweet, I just got mine in the mail - haven’t assembled it all but I’m impressed so far. Mine didn’t come with handles mounted on the top ring of the stand so I’ll have to move them up. I assume that all of these parts are identical to the first generation of the fermentasaurus but simply in a...

    Rhubarb Wine

Thanks, are you saying to add the missing plain water after racking or to remove some of the must to add back in later? How much foaming up can I expect? Is it at all like krausen on beer?

    Rhubarb Wine

Hello, I am a beer brewer trying out this recipe for my first batch of wine. I should probably have started with a 1G batch but I was able to pull 18lbs of rhubarb out of my Mom’s garden for free so I’m going ahead with a 6 gallon batch. I was hoping someone could offer some guidance on a couple...

120v 10 gallon Blichmann Boilcoil not really boiling

I use the same boil coil in my kettle and usually have somewhere between 7-8 gallons of wort at the start of the boil. I added a 120v induction plate to give it the extra ummph to reach a rolling boil. Works great and was not expensive.

How to do a closed transfer for dummies?

Does your speidel have a spigot on the bottom? If so it's pretty simple. 1) Prepare a piece of vinyl tubing that fits tightly on the spigot with a liquid (black) ball lock quick disconnect on one end - this connects from your spigot to your purged corny keg's liquid post. 2) Replace your...

Should I treat my new Mash Paddle?

I wouldn't. I made a paddle out of maple and left it untreated; going on 3 years and it still looks great with just a hose down after brew day. Mineral oil is a non-drying oil and so although it will be saturated into the wood I'm pretty sure it could bleed back out into the mash.

    fermonster caps for closed transfer

I do the same as cascadesBrewer; I transfer out of a spigot at the bottom and feed the displaced CO2 from my purged keg back in through the top. In order to make hooking up the CO2 line easier I have one of the ss carbonation caps with the hose barb which I have a short piece of tubing on that...

Pressurized transfers from Fermonster to corny keg

I’ve had problems with cracking lids too. Putting some keg lube on the top of the fermenter before screwing on the lid has provided a reliable seal for me. Before I started doing that I could never get a seal.

Having trouble with crimp on connectors, any advice?

Well, I tried a few more... heres what it looked like. Before crimping: Then after: It looks pretty secure but if I pull pretty hard the wire will pull out. Am I over thinking this? My understanding is that the heating cooling cycle during operation can cause a poor crimp to burn up. I did...

Having trouble with crimp on connectors, any advice?

Thank you to those who have commented, it gives me some hope that others have had success with the same crimper. I think I am crimping using the technique that tartan1 describes but I’ll try another one tonight and post a picture of my result after my son is in bed. In the meantime I’ll ask...

Having trouble with crimp on connectors, any advice?

Thanks for the replies. I should’ve said in the op that I’ve already tried adjusting my crispers and have them at the highest setting. No change. So now I wonder if I should try to get a different crisper, the channelock or other, or different crimps.

Having trouble with crimp on connectors, any advice?

I've been slowly assembling a 220v 30amp control panel for an ebiab setup and getting frustrated with the unreliable crimps I've been getting. I do have plenty of experience with house wiring projects and smaller electronics work (tube amps) so I feel confident working on this project but this...
