OG 1.090 to SG 1.030 in a week?

Well, the wine tested at .993 today. Plan on racking to secondary tomorrow only because of time constraints. Poured a glass of the teating liquid. It's quite sour with some red wine noted and a faint berry flavor. I hope some age will help it develope. It is hazy. Anything I can do? I've added...

OG 1.090 to SG 1.030 in a week?

Yeah what about oak? I have some toasted oak sticks I had planned on using. This depending entirely on taste. But how long would you leave oak sticks in for? I was gonna start at 6 wks

OG 1.090 to SG 1.030 in a week?

I used the lalvin amh yeast. 2 grams per gallon so abt 8 grams. I used frozen berries and 1 can grape juice concentrate. Pureed berries, heated in a pot to loosen, filtered through sieve. Added 7lbs of sugar in abt 2 gal water bringing total volume to 3.75 gallon. Juice appeared loose enough. I...

OG 1.090 to SG 1.030 in a week?

Recently made some black berry wine and the original gravity was 1.090 and a week later SG read 1.030. Was curious to know if this is possible. The only reason I ask is bc I blended my blackberris then filtered out the pulpy mess. The juice was still pretty heavy. I watered it down to a decent...

    Adding pectic enzyme

I just made some blackberry and it's in the primary bubbling away. I messed up a little on the math when I scaled it down and I need to add about 1/8 teas. more of pectic enzyme. Sunday will be a week that's it's fermenting. Will it be too late to add in the pectic? I'm not thinking it is but...

    Lalvin AMH?

The juice is bubbling away at this point. I've decided to not do anything. I'm just gonna leave it alone. Yes I have a hydrometer. The starting gravity or original gravity was 1.090. Is not adding nutrients once gravity hits 1.040 a standard? Why? Bc you will get undesirable favors?

    Lalvin AMH?

Thanks I'll download it. For now the juice seems to be going. Guess I'll see how it goes. Why do you say not to add DAP unless I have to? Do I have time to order and then add the fermaid later? I'll have to look that yeast name up. With the fruity/spicy qualitis and the note that AMH helps the...

    Lalvin AMH?

I'm new to the whole thing and don't know many yeast strains. So with all that sugar and juice you stI'll think the yeast needs some nutrient? What if I add some DAP? Trying to work with what I have and not buy something else. Not to mention the time it'll take to arrive here

    Lalvin AMH?

I bought this bc it said it worked well with fruity style wine. I made some blackberry wine and I'm trying to rehydrate or at least get it kick started. Put some in a glass measuring cup with some of the juice and a little hit water. Temp was 83f. Added a bit of yeast. Been abt 30min. Don't...

    Ocean spray Cranberry Pomegrante

I looked again at the juice cocktail and it has beet sugar in it. Just recalling it from last night's memory but it said water, cran juice from concentrate, beet sugar/fruit sugar and vegetable juice for color. And absorbic acid.

    Apple/Cherry Wine

When you're adding sugar, are you heating up the juice first in order to dissolve or are you adding it straight to the juice?

    Cranberry wine for ocean spray?

Seems a bit late in season, I can't seem to find the fresh cranberries you can around xmas. Thinking of trying the 100% juice. There is a place near me that sells wine supplies in terms of juices. Try that first. I like cranberry juice which is what led me to asking about it. Jensmith, would you...

    Cranberry wine for ocean spray?

Ok. I see what you're saying. I'd be fermenting sugar more than fermenting the cranberry juice. Now what if I would get the type that says 100 % juice. Not cranberry juice cocktail?

    Ocean spray Cranberry Pomegrante

It has sugar and other juices. Tested it and it has an OG of 1.050. Not sure of an actual recipe. Was unsure if I should add sugar or just look for cranberry or grape concentrate that's preservative free to raise OG to at least 1.080

    Ocean spray Cranberry Pomegrante

Would love to know if this has worked out to a decent wine. I just posted a thread about cranberry cocktail from ocean spray. No preservatives. Wanting to make a gallon or so. Didn't want to add sugar but wondering if I need to. Was gonna see about using concentrate like I did with apple cider

    Cranberry wine for ocean spray?

I recently boughr a bottle of ocean spray cranberry juice cocktail. I really like the flavor and saw it only has absorbing acid. Has anyone ever tried making wine out of this juice? Was it successful? What was your recipe?

    Bottling/ carbing help

I have a 5 gal water cooler carboy that I plan to use for carbonation. It has a cap that snaps on pretty tight. I hope pressure doesn't blow it off?? If that won't work bc the cap is too weak, can I mix in the 1 gallon jug then separate into 750ml flip top bottles for carbonation?

    Bottling/ carbing help

I'm also confused abt carbonation. Using the priming calculator for right amount of sugar. So I add the amount suggested by calculator. Then what? Two weeks later it's carbonated. Ok let's say it is. Then I bottle. Do I have to pasturize? Or is the calculator for amount in finished cider to get...

    Bottling/ carbing help

Floppy..so you use stevia? I'm not a big fan of stevia in coffee and teas. Guess I probably wouldn't want it in the cider ?? I'm like to try to stay natural as possible. This has me interested. Also, when you say you get the right amount of priming sugar ready. How do you find that out?? I let...
