    Irish stout kit

I have a colonna corker/capper. I did put a cap on one bottle. Don't know how I missed it then. There just doesn't seem to be a lip there for the cap to really hold on. When I tried it, seems to work but easily removed with a bottle opener. Idk, I just order 2 cases from Midwest supply so it is...

Sanitize all my stuff and near the end of sanitizing last of the bottles my friend saved for me I finally noticed they're screw ons. Can I still use them??can I press a...

    Irish stout kit

Just didn't think beer was aged. I guess I thought that like other things there's a peak, plateau and decline , but looked at beer as a ready to drink, better in a month or two, finish under a year, kinda thing. Say a program on booze traveller where someone was putting yrs on the dark, heavy...

    Cider gone bad?

BeeDee, yeah they gave me an IV full prior to surgery. Trying the track what I ate and pills I took after. Something messed me up. With chills and body ache I believed it to be bad food. Idk. We'll see in June when I taste it age. See if I get cramps. In total the cider sat for 2 months prior to...

    Cider gone bad?

Yep fermented out dry. I tasted it at 2 wks old and again now at 4 months; to track progress. As far as taste it's seems to have gotten better, carbed up nice too. Really well actually. Just trying to figure it out. How do you know if something like this is spoiled somehow. I'm making beer and...

    Cider gone bad?

I recently drank a bottle of my first cider made in 12/13/15 and next day and today I've got chills and gas pain like you wouldn't believe. Can't tell if it was cider, or other food or what. Just had surgery tues and that seems to be healing fine yet I feel sick like this. Straight up gas pain...

    Irish stout kit

Meant more about the body of the sample I tried. It didn't seem as full body as Guinness. But also, yeah the color is not as dark and that's been from the beginning. Eben before I added yeast. The color was dark but not that Guinness black..

    Irish stout kit

Hmm. Ok. I'll take your advice and leave it in for another week. I find the beer a bit light. Lighter than Guinness profile. I wonder if the 3rd week helps with this. ??

    Sweet fruit wines

I'm a little confused about the aging. Won't the wine continue to age in the bottle? If I wanted to bottle at 3 months then won't it continue to age in bottle??

    EC 1118 For Fruit Wines???

Yes. And thanks. The airlock has actually sucked back a while ago. I'm gonna leave it alone. At the full 2 months I'll add sparkalloid and then give it another month before I bottle. That's the plan any way

How long usually? I was gonna test again on Saturday and see. That would be 14 days.

    EC 1118 For Fruit Wines???

Question about sparkalloid. I just got some for riesling I plan on making. But I have blackberry wine sitting for its 2nd month in 1 gal glass jugs. When I racked it did appear hazy. Can you add sparkalloid at any time? Meaning can I add it to the blackberry and let it sit another month as the...

    Irish stout kit

Today's day 10. I took a reading and it's at 1.016. Gon a wait until Saturday and take another reading. I put some in a glass and have it in the fridge for a bit. Right off it smells similar to Guinness. It appears hazy though. How do you get rid of that. Had the same thing happen with my cider...
