    Getting sunglasses repaired. Maui Jim.

I've sent ones back to Oakley with good repair results as well. Coincidently, I broke a pair of my Oakley's last week and need to send them in for repair. :(

Brewers Hardware, All Stainless, Single Tier, BCS-462, Automated Rig

I keep the boil going while I recirc. With the old kettle screen, every once in a while I would lose prime on my pump with a vigorous boil going. However, I can tell just from the two batches yesterday that the new kettle screen is helping greatly as my flow was way better than it was with the...

Brewers Hardware, All Stainless, Single Tier, BCS-462, Automated Rig

Used the new boil screen today for two batches and it worked great! The thing was caked with hop and break material but it didn't affect the flow. It also cleaned a lot easier than my old screens. I just hit it with the pressure from the garden hose and it blew the gunk right off. Wort going...

BrunDog 50A eRig - no HLT for me!

BrunDog - I really like the compactness of this setup, but that's going to be too slow for me. I'm usually 30-40 lbs of grain. Do you know what your RPM speed is on that motor? jcav - Get a reusable zip tie to hold the trigger! It's what I used to do and it has built in "fine adjustment" LOL.

With 10 minutes left in the boil, I start a recirc. At 6 minutes left, I bring the plate chiller into the loop to sterilize it and the hose that is used to transfer to the fermenter. I don't want to recirc through the plate chiller without filtering the trub out.

Yes, I whirlpool. Why would you assume not?

Doing a little update for the weekend brew day. On my older Blingmann 20G kettle, I used one of the old style Blingmann kettle screens. When I moved to a 30G Brewers Hardware kettle (on my old stand), I still kept using that screen. I always used it in conjunction with either individual paint...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I'm with jammin - I clean mine about once a year. It's not quick to clean. I did a mod on mine though using a short section of paper towel roll as a sleeve so that all beans that drop into the chamber are forced into the burr path and it eliminates stale bean matter hanging around the burrs...

BrunDog 50A eRig - no HLT for me!

I've been using this for a while. It's just a mortar mixer I put in my cordless drill.

BrunDog 50A eRig - no HLT for me!

Even with underletting, I'll still be mixing. I use a mortar mixer in my drill and can thoroughly mix in a few seconds. On a 60 minute mash, I mix at 60, 45, 30 & 15 minutes. With the continuous recirc, I still run clear since it has 15 minutes to settle out before I start fly sparging.

BrunDog 50A eRig - no HLT for me!

Good to know! Do you not stir your mash at all? Do you run a continuous recirulation? (Sorry BrunDog for the OT!)

BrunDog 50A eRig - no HLT for me!

Curious to see the results of how long it takes to mill a full hopper of grain. I could use a smaller motor like this as I'm toying with the idea of mounting it to a kettle lid to mill right into the mash tun. I'm going to be testing heating the strike in the HLT and filling the MLT with dry...

Each kettle has a disconnect on the inside at the top. I disconnect the whirlpool arm on the BK and then attach a hose that runs over to the fermenter. I actually put the hose in place a before I start chilling so that I can recirculate through that hose to ensure there are no bugs there.

    Immersion or plate chiller

    Dude, you're so chill. ;)

So far, no issues. One of the things that helps is just removing the fitting inside the return at the top of the kettle so that when the valve first opens, the air does have a high point to escape. I always did that on my old rig to help prime, but so far (with only 1 brew day/2 batches) I...

Upright Keezer, 8 taps, 11 kegs

Yes, lots of ways to explore and find out if it is safe before just pushing a drill all the way through. C'mon people, just figure it out!

Upright Keezer, 8 taps, 11 kegs

You can almost always drill right above the hump area on the back wall and be safe. If you don't have a visible coil on the back side, then they are in the walls & top.

    Disappointed.

Couple of other things to look at on your water. You didn't mention the source of the water other than it sounds like it is your tap water. Do you run it through a charcoal filter to remove chlorine/chloromines? Are you using a green garden hose filling up your kettle? If you brew outside...

Nice job! That's a perfect mounting bracket!

LOL - I seriously laughed out loud reading this. My wife had to ask me what was so funny.
