What did I cook this weekend.....

Adding a picture while it’s simmering. Love this soup. Will serve with grated cheese, tortilla chips, avocados, and hot sauce for mine.

What did I cook this weekend.....

47° this morning. T-shirt and shorts this evening. Not exactly what I was thinking when I said winter soups and stews, but always great. I am doing tortilla soup. Picture is the soup base ingredients before adding broth and simmering. Maybe will get a plated picture but I’m pretty starving, so...

What did I cook this weekend.....

Thanks. I will certainly give it a try at some point, but I just put frozen filo on the grocery list for this round of spanakopita :) I made a strudel once a long time ago that was great. I think I used filo dough for that. I need to find that recipe and make that again too!

What did I cook this weekend.....

I was certain that I posted this Tri-Tip from last Sunday already, but I don't see it anywhere. I swear this is the best tasking piece of meat I have ever cooked! Much better than my last Tri-Tip. I pretty much winged this recipe based on a bunch of different recipes. First off, I found a...

What did I cook this weekend.....

Told wife about seeing this here, and she says "I saw that last time we were in there". lol She does not like Salmon. Actually she does not like Lox, but she unfortunately extrapolates to all salmon. I'm going have to give this a try and maybe change her mind :)

What did I cook this weekend.....

Continuing with my excursion into Greek, and in this case Greekish, recipes, I made Spanakopita Pinwheels :) Just awesome. Next I need to make traditional Spanakopita with filo dough instead of this puff pastry roll up version. The filling is just amazing. Used block President Feta from...

Wow, have not seen that in Costco! It came pre-stuffed, or did you just get the salmon from there?

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Like minds :) I am planning some raised beds for next year too, though probably several smaller ones rather than a big garden. Interested in what you are planning if you will share when you get a chance.

What did I cook this weekend.....

Last night's Ravioli. Store bought fresh butternut squash ravioli this time. Browned butter then sizzled about 8 garden fresh basil leaves, couple of cloves of garlic, and a little garden fresh oregano in the butter. Added a cup of pasta water and reduced by half. Added cooked pasta and a...

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

I am actually going to give this a try, instead of buying frozen when I don't have time for anything else. I like the idea of par freezing then vacuum sealing. Never thought of that. I suspect you could actually do that without cooking first if you wanted. Ideas for some experimentation.

What did I cook this weekend.....

Sorry, I saw this a while back, remembered it was there, and am just now getting to responding. I have a very complicated Stromboli recipe that I have never tried, and did not want to mess with this night, so I googled around and found this one from SallysBakingAddiction. I am really please...

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

I understand. I put in just three plants late in the season and I cannot keep up with the Habs and Serranos. I have been fermenting hot sauce all summer. I think I am just going to pickle them this time or just make a non-fermented hot sauce of some kind. It's been hard to keep up!

What did I cook this weekend.....

Stromboli from last night. First time I have every tried this. Mine had pepperoni, spanish chorizo, canadian bacon, and jalapenos with mozz, cheddar, and parm. Wife's was just the cheeses. Dipped in store-bought Rao's Marinara just because I was lazy last night :) Very tasty indeed...

What did I cook this weekend.....

Did Kolokithokeftedes again (Greek Zucchini Fritters) and believe they turned out even better than the first time! Put up some more chilies to ferment for hot sauce and bottled two other quarts that have been fermenting for a couple of months. I still can't believe how many chilies I am...
